“Baby Daddy” Summer Premiere Recap: Trial By Liar

The summer premiere of “Baby Daddy” aired last night and I have to say that I am super stoked to have my favorite show back on! I don’t know how you feel but I found this episode to be both hilarious and emotional.

Last season ended by Riley finding out that Danny slept with Sam in high school, even after specifically telling Riley that he NEVER had feelings for Sam. Sam happens to be Riley’s mortal enemy so she was devastated.

In the same episode we also saw Ben have an epiphany about his relationship with Zoey.He left his high school crush Sam laying in bed naked and ran to Zoey’s only to find out that she is trying to work things out with her ex and the father of her child. If that wasn’t enough we also saw Bonnie fly to Peru to find Brad, only to find that he flew to New York to find her. That last episode left me with a world of emotions so I couldn’t wait for this season to start so it would (hopefully) clear some things up.

Last night the episode began with Riley kicking Danny out of the apartment. He attempts to go back to his old place, but Sam is renting out his room. Bonnie is back from Peru and decides to help Danny get Riley back. Obviously Bonnie cares about Danny and Riley’s relationship, but she’s more worried that Danny is going to want to move in with her. Ben regrets ditching Sam for Zoey because he’s been obsessed with her since high school and he’s only known Zoey for three months. He’s mostly embarrassed at the way things turned out for him.

Tucker has a bright idea to help Ben “rewrite his story” and save face. Ben decides to put Tucker’s plan into action and blackmail Zoey into pretending to be with him only so that he can eventually dump her and feel better. Zoey initially says no but Ben threatens to tell her baby daddy about the two of them kissing in the shower the other day. Zoey doesn’t want to risk her relationship with the father of her child who just returned from being deployed as a marine. So, she agrees.

Zoey’s baby daddy catches Ben and Zoey in the act of pretending to be together so he attempts to punch Ben and a fight breaks out.

They both end up in jail and Zoey is furious with both of them for being so immature. She tells her baby daddy (Aaron) that she doesn’t want him being around their son if he can’t even control his temper. Riley tells Danny that they can talk but instead she puts him on trial with a real judge and real jury. Bonnie acts as Danny’s lawyer and breaks Ben out of jail to use him as a witness.

In a hilarious court room trial with guest star Jackée Harry acting as the judge, we hear both sides of the story. Danny thinks Riley is over reacting because having sex with someone doesn’t mean you have feeling for them and Riley is devastated because she feels betrayed and lied to by someone who was her best friend for so long.

Now, this is when I got emotional because I have been shipping Danny and Riley’s relationship since season one. Danny asks Riley to forget about the court and the jury and just talk him because he loves her and is sorry. An emotional Riley responds by telling him that she doesn’t need the jury’s opinions because every time she looks at him she just sees him and Sam together. Riley leaves the room in tears after telling Danny that he lied to her and broke her heart.

I couldn’t hold back the tears any longer. Seeing Riley leave that courtroom in tears left me in tears. That’s how the episode ended. I literally cannot wait for the next episode and I will most likely be a wreck till then.
