Britney Spears’ career has spanned over 15 years in the biz. This weekend (Sunday, Aug. 28), the Pop Princess will grace the stage again for the sixth time at the MTV Video Music Awards. She will be singing “Make Me” with G-Easy, the first single from her upcoming album, “Glory,” out Friday, August 28. This marks the ninth studio album for Spears.
With these achievements, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of Brit Brit’s best VMA performance moments!
Number 3 – Like A Virgin/Hollywood Medley
In 2003, Britney Spears shocked fans around the world when she appeared on stage with pop star rival, Christina Aguilera. That wasn’t even the most shocking part of the performance. The Queen, Madonna joined the pop stars on stage for a mashup of her hits, “Like A Vigin” and “Hollywood” that included a three-way kiss!!
Number 2 – Baby One More Time Feat. NYSNC
The first appearance by the pop princess was in 1999. It was over 15 years ago that Brit Brit showed she had staying power and could own the stage. It’s hard to believe now that Britney actually opened up for NSYNC on their first tour together. We all know she later went on to have a high-profile relationship with Justin Timberlake, that ended not so well. But the then 16-year-old gave a performance we will never forget!
Number 1 – I’m a Slave 4 U
Just a few years into her career, Britney Spears put on a performance that STILL has us talking. This might go down as the best VMA performance EVER. In my opinion at least! Girl was slaying it with her tiny outfit and large snake wrapped around her shoulders. Let’s give her an award just for dancing on stage with a live snake!! This performance was sexy, entertaining and the choreography was on point.
