How did you get into music?
I always knew I wanted to do music. I grew up with music. My dad sings, plays the guitar and piano and writes his own songs. When I was 11 years old I started going to ‘The Academy Of Stage Arts’in Germany and everything really began there.

Your style is described as a very upbeat country pop vibe, what artist would you say you take inspiration from?
I am inspired by people like Shania Twain, Tim Mc Graw and even Bruce Springsteen.
I also listen to current music. I love Ed Sheerans music and he would be my favorite person to collaborate with!

You were raised in Germany and moved to LA by yourself at the age of 16! How do you feel this experience has affected the message within your music?
I struggled moving here at the age of 16 because I’ve never been so far away from home. It confused me a lot and I think that comes through in my music. I also became a stronger person through that experience so songs like ‘Everybody’s Pretty When They’re 18’ and ‘Back in Highschool’ are inspired by that experience.

How did the music video for “February 29(Marry Me)” come to be?
My friend Giorgio Daveed produced and directed this video. It was actually the first music video we’ve done together. We sat down and I told him my idea of making it really funny. ‘February 29’ is supposed to be a funny song. I have actually proposed to a guy and he turned me down. Today I can laugh about that.

The video is about switching it up and having the girl ask the guy to marry them, if you were to ask your partner to marry you how would you do it?
I think after the experience of having done it once I wouldn’t do it again.
Next time I’ll gladly wait to be asked haha.

What made you decide to make the proposal in your video take place in a hot air balloon so high up from the ground? The guy seems a little scared at the end there…lol
The point of the hot air balloon is that Jack aka Daniel couldn’t escape the situation. In the hot air balloon we actually had 20 other people who were standing there thinking this was real. They were definitely entertained. I don’t know if Daniel was scared. He did look quite scared but he still replies to my texts so I think we’re OK haha.

Who would you love to collaborate in the future?
Ed Sheeran would be my number 1 choice!

What do you think makes your music so relatable?
I think my music is relatable because I write my own songs. The beauty of it is that everyone who relates to my songs automatically relates to me so there is an immediate connection between people that listen to my music and myself.

What is the one thing you hope the audience take away when they hear your music?
I hope they take love and strength and that they feel encouraged through my music.
And that they know everything will be ok.

Anything else you want to plug coming up?
My album is available for pre order on I tunes now! Would love for you to listen to the preview of the songs. Here’s the link: Gotcha by Charly Cole https://itun.es/us/9Wbcab
