TRUE CRIME PODCASTS COME TO LIFE

Avid listeners of true crime podcasts like “Serial,” “Undisclosed,” “In the Dark,” and “Casefile True Crime” will especially appreciate this new program which dramatizes the stories of potentially wrongfully convicted criminals and brings it to the small screen.

AGENT CARTER IS BACK TO KICK SOME ASS

Actress Hayley Atwell, known to most as Peggy Carter in Marvel’s comic book movie “Captain America: The First Avenger,” the series “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” and of course her own spin-off series, “Marvel’s Agent Carter,” returns to ABC this fall in the new drama “Conviction.”

Atwell stars as Hayes Morrison, a troubled young lady already in the public eye who heads up New York’s newly established Conviction Integrity Unit to take a look at incarcerated individuals’ claims of innocence.

GIRL POWER

Hayes is a fun character to watch. She’s spunky with a no-nonsense, take charge kind of attitude who likes to prove that she can get what she wants by flaunting her feminine curves, but also by using her cunning wit. That, of course, leads her to investigate cases that will keep all media attention on her and her team.

THE FIRST CASE

Not one to shy away from scandal, Hayes first chooses the case of Odell Dwyer. He’s a handsome former high school football player who has been in prison for eight years for murdering his girlfriend.

Odell appears unassuming upon first look, but his original interrogation video shows a dark side, and Hayes’ team quickly discovers he’s been lying to them. Plus, the victim’s mother is adamant he must have killed her daughter.

The ludicrous part is they’re under a strict timeline — 3 days to be exact. In no more than 3 days Hayes and her team need to prove Odell is guilty once again, or he’s an innocent young man behind bars. Will they make the deadline?

EYE CANDY

If solving puzzles and cracking codes doesn’t do it for you, then there’s one more reason to tune in to “Conviction” — dreamy actor Eddie Cahill. He plays District Attorney Conner Wallace who shares a past with Hayes Morrison that circles around nemesis, but you could cut the sexual tension with a knife!

Let’s just say I wouldn’t be surprised if we see more handcuffs in both of their futures if you know what I mean.
