“Dancing with the Stars” Week 2: TV Themes

Who needs to binge watch shows on Netflix or Hulu when you have Dancing With The Stars TV night?! With week one under their belts, the stars all came out with complete confidence this week. However, like every Monday we do have our favorites.

Maddison’s Favorites

Calvin Johnson and Lindsay Arnold
My first favorite of the week goes to Calvin Johnson, aka Urkel, and Lindsay Arnold with their fox trot to the Family Matters theme song. I don’t know if it was Calvin’s love for the character itself or his newfound passion for dance, but whatever is behind that smile made this dance my favorite of the night. Lindsay did an incredible job with the choreography and on top of it, made the pairs height difference look like a benefit rather than a disadvantage. To quote the lovely Julianne Hough, “It ended too soon.” Couldn’t agree more, Julianne. I think Calvin’s future in the competition is as bright as his big smile.

Terra Jolè and Sasha Farber
My next favorite of the week goes to another couple who has a height challenge, Terra Jolè and Sasha Farber. These two performed quite the quick step to the theme song of Bewitched. As Len so eloquently stated, “Diamonds come in small packages.” He is so right, Terra sparkled and shined. Her incredible work ethic and ability to accept nothing but the best made her a big contender this week. The pair did so great, they even claimed the title of Julianne’s favorite dance of the night.

I would also like to give honorable mentions this week to “Disney’s Beyonce” Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy, as well as, James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess. These two stars confuse me for pros and because of that they deserve another shout out.

Heathern’s Favorites

Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy

My favorite couple is Laurie and Val, hands down. As a kid I watched DuckTales so for me, this was a flashback for sure! The funniest part about this couple doing a dance to this theme song is Laurie is not even aware of what DuckTales is! Their Jive routine even came with the famous fall into the pit of money! So far, Laurie has the most potential to take the whole competition. Her energy is incomparable to the others. The judges are already praising her great technique and we all know she has no problem with her facials on the floor!

Jana Kramer and Gleb Savchenko
The country singer is nursing a back injury that gave her problems throughout the week — but you wouldn’t have known it the way she went out there and gave it her all! This week Jana and Gleb got their tango on to the theme song from One Tree Hill, which happened to be sung by the one time Dancing with the Stars contestant, Gavin DeGraw live! Jana and Gleb’s chemistry is undeniable on the dance floor. I wish for a speedy recovery from her because she is so beautiful dancing!
