Exclusive Interview: Cailee Rae Talks New Music, VidCon and Tour

In the world of up and coming singer/songwriters, Cailee Rae is by far one of the most talented. A casual Instagram post became a huge stepping stone in Cailee’s career.  The world, much like I am, instantly became captivated by her voice. When interviewing her I was completely amazed at how genuine and passionate she was when talking about being involved with all aspects of the creative process when writing her original music. In this one interview I learned a lot from Cailee Rae the “artist” and Cailee Rae the “16-year-old girl.”

Cailee didn’t always know that she wanted to pursue a career in music but always had an interest in singing as a hobby. She says she was “scared of her voice;” not really comfortable with sharing it with anyone. Choosing to pursue a music career is not a popular idea where she is from. Cailee tells me she eventually had to learn to stop “people pleasing” and chase her dreams. Personally, I find it incredibly brave when someone chooses to chase their dreams and stop worrying about what everyone else will think.

When writing original music Cailee, like many great artists, loves to use her music to tell a story. Some of her musical influences are Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith; some of the greatest story tellers our generation has ever seen. Among listening to great artists, Cailee also finds inspiration from the world around her. She says her favorite place to find inspiration is the airport. “Imagination is so powerful,” Cailee says. She likes to sit in the airport and imagine the back story behind all those who are coming and going.

With all this inspiration Cailee has already released a new single “Anchor” and will soon be releasing a new EP titled “Over Thinking.” Cailee says she had the most fun writing “Surrender” and her favorite song to connect to is “Anchor.” Her single “Anchor” is about letting go of anything or anyone that may be holding you back from chasing your dreams; including yourself. A song like this is easy for our generation to connect to.

I know you guys are wanting to find out when and where you can meet Cailee and watch her perform her new music! Don’t worry, I got the scoop! Cailee cannot officially confirm this, but she is talking about making plans to attend VidCon and BeautyCon! She is also talking a possible tour later in the year after her EP comes out on June 17th, because she is super excited to meet you guys. This is going to be a breakout year for Cailee Rae!

You guys sent in Q’s and I got you the A’s!

Cailee: “Japan! I love the culture!”

Cailee: ” Yes! ‘Started’ – It’s about loving someone so much and being in a long distance relationship and wanting them to be near you all the time.”

I asked Cailee to give me the best advice that she had ever received and she gave me the cutest answer with the biggest meaning. “You can be the ripest and juiciest peach in the world, but not everybody likes peaches. Loving yourself is so important.”

Guys please make sure to checkout Cailee’s music video for her single “Anchor” that was released on May 13th (Link below)! She created the entire video concept herself and it is absolutely PERFECT.
