Nathan Sykes is formally known as the youngest member of the British boyband, The Wanted. Nathan decided to branch off on his own when the band broke up in 2014. His solo career has been very successful for him. In fact, his debut of “Kiss Me Quick” reached number one on numerous charts.

He also performed with Ariana Grande in their collaborative single, “Almost Is Never Enough.” Nathan has performed with other stars such as Jessie J and Little Mix. He is currently a special guest in Alessia Cara‘s Know It All Tour 2016.

He finally released his first album Unfinished Business (Deluxe) which is currently available on iTunes. In the album, Nathan unveils a soulful expression and versatility in his voice which makes it hard to stop listening.

Luckily, I had the opportunity to interview Nathan at a VIP concert in Ohio. Time was limited for questions, but I was able to ask Nathan some important questions that will help his fans get to know him a little better. Check it out below!

What was the hardest part about going out on your own?

There wasn’t really a hard part about going out on my own, so for me it was all really positive. There was a lot to learn about the music and myself though. Coming from a band, I was only singing about a fifth of the song, and now I am singing all of it. Because of this, I have the ability to learn more about my own voice and what I can do with it. Two years ago I really had no clue I would be where I am today, and that is pretty awesome.

When it comes to an album, what would be your biggest inspiration?

A lot of what I write is based on how I am feeling at the time. Relationships are definitely a part of my inspiration too. Ya know, relationships, break ups, and everything in between. You can hear it in my lyrics, and it is definitely all real for me.

When you are not in the studio, what is your favorite thing to do?

I really enjoy spending time with my family because I don’t get to go home much. This is such a busy lifestyle, so any chance I get to spend with them I do. Family is incredibly important to me.

Nathan’s music is also available on Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, Amazon and Google Play! To learn more about Nathan and what he is up to, go to http://nathansykesofficial.com
