Season 2 of Freeform’s “Stitchers” kicks off March 22 at it’s new 10/9c time slot. The episode is titled “2.0” and Freeform’s official synopsis reads: “After Kirsten successfully brings Cameron back from the dead, she experiences an unexpected side effect: her temporal dysplasia is gone and she has real emotions for the first time since childhood. When a mystery involving Les Turner (Oded Fehr) forces the lab to go on lockdown placing a cloud of suspicion around Maggie, the team must find out what really happened, and fast. Kirsten’s latest stitch leads to a shocking discovery and an important memory involving her biological father. Meanwhile, Camille tries to cheer up an unhappy Fisher as he recovers from his wounds.”

Read below as I talk to Emma Ishta and Kyle Harris, who play Kirsten and Cameron, about the Season 2 premiere and what to expect this season!

GOOD AFTERNOON YOU GUYS!! First off, I am a huge fan of the show and have been since the beginning so I was so excited that you guys got renewed for a new season. I also want to say, congrats Kyle… Cameron lives!!! What was that cliffhanger like for you? What did it feel like?

Kyle: Reading the script initially it was such a page turner. I thought it ended the first season on such a strong note. I wasn’t aware the the fan reaction would be so strong! There was such passion about demanding that I come back, I mean I was happy to be revived! It was definitely a cliffhanger and I think we really grabbed the audience with it. Now we get to see the character of Cameron with a new take on life and that’s how we kinda start season 2 off. It unfolds from there. I was happy with the cliffhanger and I’m happy that people feel enticed to come back to us and see what happens next!

I got the chance to screen the Season 2 premiere and this season looks just amazing! The story elements that you brought back from season 1 and the new elements including Kirsten starting to feel emotions now is really quite great. How exciting is it for you Emma to be able to around with these new emotions and what that means for the team?

Emma: Oh it’s great! It gives me so much more to work with in terms of developing the character and in terms with Kirsten herself. It was really exciting to have something new and fresh to do. And two I think this makes her a little more relatable and likeable to our audience. So it’s been really fun!

One thing I’ve always loved about the show is it’s friendships! The friendship between Linus and Cameron has always been great but now we are starting to see one between Camille and Kirsten. We got a glimpse of it last season but now that Kirsten can feel real emotions, can you tease anything about a friendship or rivalry between them this season?

Emma: I think that all of the relationships become more complex and layered throughout the season, whether it be friendships or rivalries. I definitely think that Camille and Kirsten have their journey to go on and it’s nice to see women come together and support each other the way that they do throughout the course of the season. And then Kirsten and Cameron’s relationship obviously develops a lot as well. I think it gets deeper and that they develop a better understanding of each other. And of course Maggie continues with her mystery but I think it’s safe to say that every relationship moves forward and develops and becomes stronger in whichever way it’s going.

Speaking of Camsten… I ship that and I know a lot of others do as well! Is there any Camsten spoilers you can tease about their relationship this season?

Kyle: Going off of what Emma said, there is a deeper connection now that she knows how he feels and she knows what he did for her and for the team, that sacrifice. I think she respects that but Cameron really feels like “I put myself out on the line for you guys. I have nothing else to hide. So this is me and this is how I feel, so take or leave it.” So now it’s about how to navigate that relationship with all the cards on the table. It’s not a matter of beating around the bush like it was much of last season. This season it’s a lot about “okay, this is how I feel. Are you gonna meet me halfway? If not than I can only wait so long.” So it’s that kind of tug at your heart this season.

The last time Stitchers was on the air the network was known as ABC Family. So my last question is, how has your transition into Freeform been? I’ve noticed that the shows have gotten a bit more risque so what has that been like for you guys?

Emma: It’s an interesting time for the network going through all of these changes. I think that the audience has grown with a lot of these staple shows like “Pretty Little Liars” and “The Fosters.” There growing with their audience as their audience grows up. So there is definitely an element of more risque and more adult-themed storytelling. So you will see that in Stitchers but I think that since the beginning we have been apart of the push for that slightly more grown-up version of things.

I want to thank Emma and Kyle for taking the time to visit with me. I know that I had a blast talking to them! Be sure to check out the Stitchers season 2 premiere titled “2.0” airing March 22nd at it’s new 10/9c timeslot!
