Five Greatest 2016 Grammy Performances

The Grammys never fail to have performance after performance stunning it’s audience. And while there were so many to choose from tonight, from Taylor Swift, to Pitbull, to Lady Gaga, there should have been a top 10 list tonight, but I’m breaking down my top five performances for you!

#1 Taylor Swift

Really the only thing I need to say is “TAYLOR SHUT IT DOWN!” Not only did she win Album of the Year with “1989,” but with “Out of the Woods” she proved she is worthy. I loved all the artistic elements in the background. AND the sparkly and sequined catsuit? It was so Taylor and it was AMAZING. I think this award show belong to her and along for the ride, bestie, Selena Gomez. All eyes were on these two!

#2 Sam Hunt and Carrie Underwood

WOW. This was fantastic. By the end though I was thinking, “just make out already!!!” and I would’ve been totally ok with it. But seriously, I loved that they both incorporated their own songs, which Sam actually guests on “Heartbeat.” It’s hard to believe that it’s almost been 10 years since Carrie won her first Grammy. Oh and for everyone who didn’t know who Sam Hunt was before this performance, back off, I already knew who he was so, I’m calling dibs!

#3 Justin Bieber, Skrillex, Diplo

OMG. YAS!! I love the acoustic version of “Love Yourself.” I just love this song to begin with but it was even more stripped down than normal. Not that he needs to, but I think Justin wants to remind everyone he can sing and he is worthy of a Grammy — which he won!

Then going into “Where Are U Now,” including drums and dancing with Skrillex and Diplo. How could you not love this performance?

#4 James Bay and Tori Kelly

To say I love the song, “Let It Go” by James Bay is an understatement. I am obsessed with this song. When I first heard him and fellow Best New Artist nominee, Tori Kelly were singing together, I was like “Ok, interesting. I’ll give it a shot.” But these two together are magic. With just their guitars and unbelievable voices, the collaboration to “Let It Go” and Tori’s “Hallow” was smooth, sensual and gave us all the feels.

#5 Tribute to Lionel Richie (John Legend, Demi Lovato, Tyrese, Meghan Trainor, Luke Bryan)

I’m pretty sure we can all agree that Demi Lovato stole the show with “Hello.” it’s safe to say that Lionel was very pleased with how this tribute to him came out. Plus, look how much fun they were having! It was impossible not to want to get up and dance along. Except…….. I kept waiting for “Dancing on the Ceiling,” which is my favorite Lionel song!

Honorable Mention: Lady Gaga

While, most people born after 1990 probably wouldn’t have recognized any of those songs, we have to give a shout out to Lady Gaga on her tribute to David Bowie. It was creative, fun and she nailed hit after hit. I also want to mention how her red carpet fashion also channeled David Bowie. It’s like actress Lady Gaga and singer Lady Gaga are two different personas and I love it!lg2lG1
