Have Mercy! Season One of “Fuller House” is now on Netflix!

Break out the scrunchie and slap-bracelet because the ultimate 90’s nostalgic sitcom is back! And before you can say “How RUDE” I am here to warn you I’ve watched every episode already and there will be spoilers. I have so many feelings about what I just watched over the last six and a half hours that I need to vent!

Welcome back Tanner, Fuller and Gibbler families! For anyone who was a fan of the 90’s sitcom, you’re going to love Fuller House. It brings back all the classic characters*, one liners, and family friendly fun of the original. Part of the charm of the original came back with this sequel. As a fan of darker shows such as Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad and so forth, it’s nice to take a break and watch a show that’s just…happy.

The new series takes place years later; DJ has three sons with her late husband and after a promotion, her father Danny and aunt Becky are moving to LA for their new morning show which will leave DJ single-parenting her boys. Stephanie, now a DJ, puts her party life on hold to move in with her sister and help raise the kids. And of course Kimmy also can’t resist the opportunity to help her BFF so she volunteers to move in as well. And let’s face it, she’s basically lived in the Tanner house her whole childhood anyways. Really Danny, you should’ve fixed those locks.

Throughout the 13 episodes, you get to know more about DJ’s kids. The adorable baby Tommy, the hilarious Danny Tanner Jr Max and the love sick teen Jackson. We also meet Kimmy’s daughter Ramona whom Kimmy had with her ex-husband current fiancé Fernando. These kids were great and held their own in a show that honestly will first attract viewers because of the core cast but will stay because it really does integrate the kids well and makes the viewers love them as well. It’s amazing Ramona ended up as normal as she did, being half Gibbler. It also has some really touching moments with DJ, Stephanie and Kimmy having to go through adulthood. A tear-jerker moment was when Stephanie confides in DJ that she found out a few months back she couldn’t have children. This really brought a whole other level to why Stephanie would choose to give her career a backseat. Kim also has an episode where we feel for how hurt she’s been to have been cheated on (multiple times) from her ex-husband Fernando.

Now earlier I stated the whole cast was back with an asterisk, and we all know Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen didn’t participate in the new series.   The show, however, does do a great job of joking around though about the twins and Michelle’s “fashion empire in New York” and in the first episode the whole cast breaks the fourth wall and stares at the audience, getting a great laugh in. There’s also a drunken phone call to their NYC sis and I personally loved when Ramona was given an Elizabeth and James dress (the twins’ brand) for her birthday. Kimmy looks at the price of the dress and says “with these prices, no wonder they don’t need to act anymore”.

But Olsens aside, it was amazing that the rest of the cast made time to come back to the show. Especially Uncle Jesse. Let’s be real, that’s why most of us ladies watched the show. He still knows how to bring the swoon, especially in one episode where Aunt Becky goes to visit the girls and mysteriously hundreds of roses are dropped off at the house. I called it in from beginning that it would be from Uncle Jesse because that’s the kind of romantic he’s always been with Becky #RelationshipGoals. I also loved seeing Joey back and his key episode babysitting the kids. It was a definite “Joey” thing to do to take away all the kids electronics and then make them have a battle filled with water guns, silly string and the most awesome of all, a leaf blower attached with some toilet paper. You’re killing me Joey, cut it out!

I’m going to get into the one flaw the series had…and for me it’s why I spent the entire day yelling at the TV. DJ BELONGS WITH STEVE!!!! I’m sorry new hot Vet guy Matt…maybe you should’ve picked the other Tanner girl Stephanie because Steve and DJ are soul mates and you can’t mess with that history. I’m also very disappointed in DJ for not recognizing that fact. I know the love triangle makes things more interesting and I admit it kept me on my toes, but I did not like how it ultimately ended up. In the very last episode DJ has to make a choice between Steve and Matt in a The Bachelor style ceremony. But instead of choosing either suitor, she picks herself?! But…but…Steve! Choose Steve, he’s a Disney Prince! The guys’ bro hug and going out for beers and lots of pizza moment was a fun walk off for them, but we all know Steve and DJ belong together. My only hope is they get a season two to rectify her choice.

So dear Netflix, please give us a season two of Fuller House…all you have to say is “You Got It Dude”!
