“The Bachelor” Episode 2 Recap: Ice Cube, Kevin Hart, Make Outs and More

First of all, on behalf of Ben, I would like to thank you all for coming out here on the internet to read this review. Y’all — is it possible to be TOO grateful? Ben needs to stop thanking these girls. I really don’t think they had to look at their calendar and roll their eyes thinking, “ok, fine, I guess I’ll go on “The Bachelor to be on national television and go to incredible romantic locations and possibly meet the love of my life.”

Now that I got that out of the way, let’s recap this episode, shall we?! I can’t believe it’s already episode 2. It feels like episode 20 to me. So much has happened! Lace admits to America that she was “too drunk and emotional” the first night she met Ben. Me thinks the alcohol just brought out Lace’s true colors, though.

I’m worried Ben is stuck on his high school glory days being the only interesting thing about him, if he’s willing to let that be the setting of his first group date. Let’s make it an accurate replica of high school. I expect awkward school dances, horrible fashion mistakes, and realizing you have food stuck in your braces only after you finish talking to your crush.

BACHELOR - "Episode 2002" - Ben greets ten ladies at a local Los Angeles high school where he invites them to take a trip down memory lane with him, but Lace is desperate to redeem herself after her erratic behavior at the first rose ceremony. Chris Harrison gets the first one-on-one date off to an exciting start when he introduces Ice Cube and Kevin Hart, fresh from the set of "Ride Along 2," to Ben and his date, and they are off on a rollicking, unconventional rendezvous, which will end with a special performance by popular singer-songwriter Amos Lee. Finally, a visit to The Love Lab will test six bachelorettes to see who among them has the best connection to Ben. The week culminates when the drama-filled rose ceremony has one lady making a stunning decision, on "The Bachelor," MONDAY, JANUARY 11(8:00-10:01p.m. EST), on the ABC Television Network. In the evening, Lace attempts to make things right with Ben. Again. And again. The girl cannot stop interrupting Ben to tell him that she admits to being “crazy”- even though she claims she isn’t! Bless his heart, Ben gives her the opportunity to get a clean slate but little Laceypoo cannot stop obsessing over her “crazy” showing! We saw a lot of conversations between those two tonight and it made me realize the only thing Ben knows about Lace is that she is “not crazy”, and that she had weird bangs in elementary school. I admittedly also had weird bangs in elementary school. Join the club, sister-friend. You’re not that special!

Jennifer, Jubilee and Jojo managed to get some smooches in the evening group date. I gotta say, though, when Ben kissed Jennifer and Jojo it felt more passionate than when he kissed Jubilee. Am I reading into this too much?

The next day we saw Caila get her own private date with Ben. This was my favorite part of the episode because I really thought I was going to see Kevin Hart’s butt. Oh, well, I guess that’s what Google is for. Aside from a weird date inside of a hot tub store, the evening date was adorbs. During dinner Caila explained what she was looking for in a man and I got chills because I really felt the connection between the two of them! And that post-dinner dance? STOOOOOOPPPP. I just about died. Ben was singing along while dancing with Caila! I think I got diabetes because that moment was just too sweet.

The next group date was also weird, but I suppose I can’t judge. These weird dates make good TV. This time around, Ben had to stick his nose where it didn’t belong- on Olivia’s face. Now, I know what you’re thinking, “Kylie! Last week you were Team Olivia! What happened?!” Well, America, I had a wake up call. A lot of you tweeted at me saying you had a bad feeling about that girl and you were right. Olivia is a little too aggressive for my liking. Don’t get me wrong- I am an aggressive girl in the dating world! I appreciate a woman who knows what she wants and goes after it. But I am not a fan of her aggressive attitude towards the other girls in the house. If she can’t make friends, then Ben should really be questioning if he truly knows the real Olivia.

I’m also severely bothered by her giant expressive mouth. Do you think maybe her jaw pops out of place and it just gets stuck that way? She might be in real pain when her mouth is wide open like that. She really should see a doctor about that mouth of hers.

In the evening, Olivia and Amanda get the smooches. Amanda’s kiss seemed more like a thank you note from Ben, though. We all know how much he loves manners, and he was super grateful that she opened up to him about the giant thing in her life that couldn’t be a secret for long- her CHILDREN. I’m still confused why he was so grateful she told him that. It’s not like these kids are some deep dark secret! It’s just the first real thing he learned about her.

I think I’m being too snarky. It must be past my bedtime! (Kris Jenner had me glued to “Bachelor Live” for a good 30 minutes).

No rose ceremony goes without drama, and tonight’s delivered. Amber was worried she was getting the boot but surprisingly (to me) she got a rose over Sam! LB received a rose but for reasons I don’t really understand she politely asked to leave. So this episode left LB, Sam, Mandy the dentist (I’m not surprised) and Jackie packing their bags.

I’m a little surprised to see Sam go. She can’t smell THAT bad, right!?
