“Married At First Sight” Season 4, Episode 3 Recap: Honeymoon or Honeydoom?

The Married At First Sight couples have officially been married for six days, and five of those days were spent on their lavish honeymoons. At this point we are getting a good idea of which couples are over the moon and which ones are doomed!

Things are not always greener on the other side, so, let’s not avoid the elephant in the corner of the room…

Derek and Heather

Their marriage is SOOOO screwed. They’ve done nothing but fight since the beginning of their honeymoon. At first it seemed like Heather was the bad guy in the relationship and she didn’t care about the experiment whatsoever.

Now, I do agree Heather can be a bit of a “bee-sting,” but Derek shows some of his true colors during this episode and they’re comparable to dark, harsh colors. The colors of insecurity.

The couple gives surfing a try and seem to be having a great bonding experience. Until Derek spots Heather holding the surf instructors hand to help steady her in the surf. They also go for an intimate hike down an awesome cave, having what appears to be a successful, non-argumentative talk… UNTIL Heather leaves the cave without consulting Derek and he loses his shit.

Heather and Derek have a Skype intervention with Pastor Cal, one of the three experts who matched them together, and let the insults fly.

Derek: “Me and this girl are like oil and water.”

Pastor Cal: “Heather, your body position, your expressions all say, ‘My walls are up.'”

Heather: “I’m pissed off and now I have a wall because I don’t know what to do, because I didn’t want to be in this position.”

Pastor Cal: “You’ve got to knock the freaking wall down! Get through it.”

Nothing like tough love from Pastor Cal. This couple is in serious trouble. They need to find a way to be nice to each other!

Nick and Sonia

They are the “Odd Couple,” are weirdly growing on me. They’re so PG with one another that it’s annoyingly cute. Nick and Sonia are quirky and weird, Sonia says it herself, and this is a key character trait of both of them that is making this marriage work.

Last episode we saw how Nick really upset Sonia by saying he is fine with things going at a slow speed and not rushing anything. Sonia clearly wants to move this marriage boat right along, but Nick has other ideas in mind.

During episode three Nick and Sonia get more physical with each other … on the dance floor. The two take salsa lessons together. It’s comparable to the prom scene out of “Napoleon Dynamite.” There’s definitely tension between them. Nick looks as if he had never touched a woman before! Sonia didn’t seem too comfortable with his hands on her hips. However, they power through and move on to their next daring adventures, kite surfing and ATVing.

It’s rather cute how they make each activity into a competition with one another. It is DEFINITELY their way of flirting with one another. #SoMiddleSchool. Obviously the physical, mental and emotional attraction, as well as the friendship between Nick and Sonia is growing at a fast rate.

Their future is looking very positive. To end their honeymoon on a high note, Nick and Sonia have a beautiful sunset dinner on the beach. Per usual, awkwardly stare at each other with Sonia maniacally laughing at every word Nick said.

Tom and Lillian

Do we even discuss how sickeningly adorable Tom and Lillian are? How in the world hadn’t these two lovebirds met each other in Miami before??? The experts couldn’t have done a better job in matching Tom and Lilly together.

They’re constantly kissing, touching, playing and canoodling each other. Tom even says to Pastor Cal, “Thank you, you found me the perfect wife.” Like, WHAT?!?! Oh my god, Tom is so damn adorable … where are guys like Tom hiding?

Lillian and Tom take on the jungles of Jamaica while ziplining and made sure to document every time they land safely on the platform with a passionate kiss. FYI even gets a little PG-13 on us and take us into the bathtub with Tom and Lilly. We have to admit it’s a little reminiscent of soft-core nookie and a bit uncomfortable. Nonetheless these two are TOTALLY falling in love with one another.

With all the positives coming out of this match you have to wonder … when is the big blow up going to happen?!? Well, if we were to take a guess as to what could potentially come between these two it would have to be Tom’s tour bus, a.k.a his home! Yep, you read that right.

Sexy Tom lives in a tour bus in a trailer park. I don’t think Lilly would be caught dead in living quarters such as this, so I predicts that Lilly will be cool with Tom’s tour bus home upon seeing it for the first time, BUT she’s not going to be living there.

The honeymoons are officially over and now the real world of marriage is about to slap these three couples in the face. Next week we see Derek, Tom and Nick’s homes as well as Heather, Lilly and Sonia’s homes. The couples are tasked with finding a home they can call their own. S***’s about to get REAAALLL.
