MTV Video Music Awards 2015: Winners — Pop Hearts TV Predictions

It’s that time of year again, folks!

The MTV Video Music Awards just revealed their list of nominees for this year’s award show and it’s going to be a close one. Taylor Swift is leading the pack with nine — yes, NINE — nominations while her bestie Ed Sheeran is trailing behind her with six noms! We have a feeling Tay Tay may sweep up all of the awards this year since she’s been killing it with every music video she has released from 1989 so far.

But who knows! T-Swizzle could very well share the wealth and allow some of her peers to win in the categories she’s nominated in. While the show is a little over a month away, Heather and I are going to lock down our predictions for the winners of the biggest awards the show has to offer. Check out our predictions below!

VIDEO OF THE YEAR
Beyoncé, “7/11”
Ed Sheeran, “Thinking Out Loud”
Taylor Swift ft. Kendrick Lamar, “Bad Blood”
Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars, “Uptown Funk”
Kendrick Lamar, “Alright”

Heather: This is going to be a toss up between Ed Sheeran and T-Swizzle. Obviously every girl wants Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’ to be played at their wedding. It’s probably the most romantic song I’ve heard in a long time. Then there’s Taylor and her whole slew of bad ass friends that can only be summed up in one hashtag #SquadGoals. I have never been more envious of a group of friends in my entire life. The song is a serious anthem and I hope Tay Tay slays!

Michelle: This is SUCH a difficult one, but I agree with Heather. I have a feeling Taylor’s ‘Bad Blood’ music video is going to win in this category. As much as I love Beyoncé, her video was very simple compared to Taylor’s epic showdown. Nothing really compares to this gif from B’s 7/11 music video, but then again this isn’t the MTV Gif Awards.

BEST MALE VIDEO
Ed Sheeran, “Thinking Out Loud”
Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars, “Uptown Funk”
Kendrick Lamar, “Alright”
The Weeknd, “Earned It”
Nick Jonas, “Chains”
H: I’m going to go with ‘Uptown Funk’ for this one. Seriously how can you not bust a move when this song comes on? It’s still in heavy rotation on the radio (and on my iPod).
M: Everyone knows I LOVE me some Nick Jonas, but I’m going to go with Teddy for this one. ‘Thinking Out Loud’ is a great song with an equally great music video. Ed showing off his dance skills and a slimmer figure? He can win all the awards, in my opinion.

BEST FEMALE VIDEO
Beyoncé, “7/11”
Taylor Swift, “Blank Space”
Nicki Minaj, “Anaconda”
Sia, “Elastic Heart”
Ellie Goulding, “Love Me Like You Do”
H: Taylor Swift once again will come out on top. Enough said.
M: How am I supposed to choose?! Mmm, I’ll go with Nicki. That video did break a Vevo record!

BEST HIP HOP VIDEO
Fetty Wap, “Trap Queen”
Nicki Minaj, “Anaconda”
Kendrick Lamar, “Alright”
Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth, “See You Again”
Big Sean ft. E-40, “IDFWU”
H: This category has two deserving winners, Nicki Minaj ‘Anaconda’ and Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth, ‘See You Again.’ ‘Anaconda’ has big booties around the world twerking and the throwback vibe to it reminds us of our fav Sir-Mix-A-Lot song. I’m also choosing ‘See You Again’ because it’s a softer side to Wiz that we haven’t had the chance to experience. The song also has meaning to the entire cast of ‘Furious 7’ who lost Paul Walker midway through filming. I think it would be a great tribute to him if this song won and the cast was able to honor him.
M: Heather said it best with that last line.

BEST POP VIDEO
Beyoncé,  “7/11”
Ed Sheeran, “Thinking Out Loud”
Taylor Swift, “Blank Space”
Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars, “Uptown Funk”
Maroon 5, “Sugar”
H: Once again, I think Taylor will win. Is this girl going to do a whole sweeeeeeep?!?!
M: Probably Taylor. Can the girl let someone else win for once? Jeez!

BEST ROCK VIDEO
Hozier, “Take Me To Church”
Fall Out Boy, “Uma Thurman”
Florence + the Machine, “Ship To Wreck”
Walk the Moon, “Shut Up and Dance”
Arctic Monkeys, “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?”

H: ‘Uma Thurman’ has been huge for Fall Out Boy this year. I think it would be only deserving if these guys took away the Moon Man for this song.
M: Not only do I agree with Heather, I’m also being a biased fan because it’s my prediction after all. Plus, the music video was super adorable? Who wouldn’t want to be Fall Out Boy’s assistant for a day and gather all the fluffy chicks and bunnies for Patrick Stump?!

ARTIST TO WATCH presented by Taco Bell
Fetty Wap, “Trap Queen”
Vance Joy, “Riptide”
George Ezra, “Budapest”
James Bay, “Hold Back The River”
FKA Twigs, “Pendulum”
H: Did we miss something? Why isn’t Tori Kelly in this category? If we have to choose someone to win, that’s nominated, I suppose we will go with either Fetty Wap or Vance Joy.
M: Seriously, why isn’t Tori Kelly in this category? I think Vance Joy will win — anyone connected to Taylor = automatic win and stardom.

BEST COLLABORATION
Taylor Swift ft. Kendrick Lamar, “Bad Blood”
Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars,  “Uptown Funk”
Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth, “See You Again”
Ariana Grande & The Weeknd, “Love Me Harder”
Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, “Bang Bang”
H: This award needs to go to Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, for ‘Bang Bang.’ These girls were everywhere promoting this song, even performing solo at times. This triage of girl power has to win!
M: Definitely Jessie J, Ariana, and Nicki for this one. Not only was it a great song, it was also a great video! It just oozed of girl power!
