HOOK, CAPTAIN HOOK

Yes! Bad boy (and single!) Hook is back!  We go back to the time of the Dark Curse and Hook is Captain once more.  He comes across a new crew member that isn’t all he seems and pushes Hook into the dark waters below.  Hook wakes to find himself 20,000 leagues under the sea with the famous Captain Neo.  Great touch: I love that Hook thought the submarine was a sea monster.

Neo and Hook have something in common: revenge.  Neo was able to get his revenge and warns Hook that it did not fill the void he felt.  Only family could do that.  Hook doesn’t want to hear from him and tries to leave.  Neo will allow Hook to go after he completes a mission with him.  After almost being taken by a real sea creature, Hook finds out his brother Liam is onboard the submarine with Neo.

Liam is none-to-pleased that his murderous brother is onboard with him as well and in an attempt to get his revenge, he tries to kill Hook but stabs Neo instead.  Hook leaves the vessel and Liam is forced to take a dying Neo into the Land of Untold Stories to survive…but will it last?

FINDING NEO

Back in present day Storybrooke, Hook is attempting to bond with Henry, but his lies catch up to him.  Henry found out about the shears (thanks Evil Queen!) and confronts Hook about it, but their discussion is cut short when sailors from the submarine show up to take Hook away.

Hook comes clean to Henry about his past, killing his dad and leaving his brother fatherless.  Hook pleads with Henry to take the last suit to leave the sub.  Henry is about to leave, but comes back to save Hook just in the nick of time.  Well it turns out Liam is now in charge and wants his revenge finished, especially since Hook took the life of Neo as well as his father.

Liam awakes to find himself in a Storybrooke hospital and Hook explains even though they were brought back from the Land of Untold Stories (thanks Hyde!) Neo did not die.  Everyone is happy they have been reunited and the revenge has subsided.  Hook and Emma come clean to each other and they get rid of the shears…or so they think.

QUEEN OF HEART(LESS)

The Evil Queen is really getting some action the last couple of weeks!  Making out with Rumple, getting the shears for a deal with the Dark One and making plans to take Snow’s heart once and for all.  The Evil Queen tells Snow that she and Charming need to hand over their hearts or else a mysterious bottle of water will destroy everyone in Storybrooke.

Regina is able to figure out that the water is from the River of Lost Souls and will kill anything it touches.  Snow and Charming are confronted with the decision…save the whole town or hand over their hearts?  Belle and the Blue Fairy try to enlighten the heroes with ideas about how to stop the Evil Queen.  The Blue Fairy says there’s a sapling tree made from true love that can help defeat the Queen.

Regina, Charming and Snow go out to find it but the Evil Queen arrives just in time to take the sapling and destroy it.  Leaving only hours for Charming and Snow to decide what to do.

Mini Rant: WHY COULDN’T REGINA PURPLE SMOKE THE THREE OF THEM OUT OF THE CAVE WHEN THE QUEEN GOT THERE?!  OR BETTER YET AT LEAST PURPLE SMOKE THE SAPLING BACK FROM HER?! Was this all explained at some point and I missed it?  Please let me know!

LOVE WILL KEEP US TOGETHER

The flashbacks take us to a moment where Charming and Snow didn’t know they had met.  The sapling tree showed it to them before it was destroyed.  In a nutshell, Snow was being hunted by a woodsman and Charming saves her.  But the kicker is, as Charming is about to open the cart Snow is trapped in, Snow stops him.  She doesn’t want him to identify her, so he won’t be hunted as well for seeing who she was.

They touch hands as Snow gives Charming some money (a token of her appreciation and helps Charming save his farm) and a sapling begins to grow beneath them.  They had no idea it was the first moment of true love.

This was a very touching moment I must admit.  “Knowing you believe in me, means I’m not alone,” Snow tells Charming as she decides to take a stand for what is hers.

So Snow and Charming in present day realize that no matter what happens they will always find one another. They decide to give their hearts to the Evil Queen to save the town, but the Queen decides not to take them…just curse them.  Since the pair share a heart, the sleeping curse she puts on them has it so only one can be awake at a time.  Never to share a moment together again.

WHOA WHOA WHOA

I’d never thought I’d say this but poor Zelena!  Well, rather her eyes.  Regina figures out the Evil Queen and Rumple are in this together and that the sexual tension they had in the past probably was acted upon.  When she reveals this to the heroes, it is possibly the best reaction shot of the group I’ve ever seen!  Eww faces across the boards.

After this revelation, Regina writes a note to Zelena, pretending to be the Queen, and leads Zelena to see Rumple and the Evil Queen making out!  She feels deceived by her sister – this was supposed to be their sister bonding, no Dark One included.  Later, Zelena tells Belle of her discovery and that Rumple plans to use the shears against their future son.

Belle obviously isn’t happy by this confession and confronts Rumple.  While she says she doesn’t care about the affair (although she totally does), she’s more concerned about Rumple trying to control their son. She won’t allow it and calls him weak when he says he’s not sure he’ll succeed in being a good man.

Let me know in the comments and via Twitter (@kristincarole13) what you thought of these episodes!  How will Snow and Charming break their never-ending curse?  Can Rumple ever win Belle and the love of their future son back?  Until next time Oncers!
