Something Big is happening January 6th on CBS at 9pm ET! One of our favorite heart throbs, Shawn Mendes, is set to perform at the 2016 People’s Choice Awards! Shawn is nominated for Favorite Breakout Music Artist and I could not be more happy for him. He grew from a teen viral sensation to best selling status almost overnight.
“Shawn is such an incredibly talented artist and we are looking forward to having him perform at our show,” said executive producer Mark Burnett. “He is a huge fan favorite and that is what our show is really all about, the fans.”
The People’s Choice Awards are the only major awards show where fans determine the nominees and winners across categories of movies, music, television and digital media. As we all know, Shawn Mendes’ fans are a force to be reckoned with. Winning an award that is solely voted by the fans is the most rewarding recognition anyone in the entertainment industry can receive, in my opinion. Shawn’s debut single “Life Of The Party” broke records, topping the iTunes charts and selling over 150,000 copies in its first week. The success of the song made Shawn the youngest artist ever to break into the Billboard Hot 100’s Top 25 with a debut single. Like I said, his fans are strong. A month later, Mendes released his self-titled debut EP, which also hit the #1 spot on iTunes, and entered at #5 on the Billboard album charts.
Shawn has grown a tremendous amount and to celebrate a huge step in his success, I want to share my top 5 favorite songs from his EP “Handwritten”:
- “A Little Too Much” – This song will hit me right in the feels every single time!
- “Stitches” – Not only do I really enjoy this song, I love the music video!
- “Air” – Shawn and Astrid just sound so amazing together on this track.
- “Kid In Love” – Definitely one of my top favorites. Makes me think about my playground crush.
- “Life of the Party” – A hit single. Just a hit. Such greatness.
I, personally, look forward to watching Shawn Mendes perform! I have a feeling his performance will be the Life of the Party.
