Fourth time has to be the charm for the new… or not-so-new, Bachelor, Nick Viall. If you haven’t already recognized him, the 36-year-old appeared on two seasons of The Bachelorette and the most recent season of The Bachelor in Paradise. Now on The Bachelor he will look to find his perfect match!
In Bachelor nation, many viewers are vocal about either loving Nick or hating him, but he remains relentless in his search for love. Which is surprising for most fans because his last three “relationships” ended in heartbreak. He continues to be hopeful that his future wife stepped out of the limo last night though.
At the beginning of the episode, Nick said, “Whatever preconceived notions the women might have, my only hope is that they come in with a clean slate and an open mind.” The 36 year old welcomed 30 stunning women into the Bachelor home last night in Agoura Hills, CA.
Usually one of my favorite parts of the season premiere is the fashion, but let’s just say, last night turned into a bit of a Red Sea. Just when I thought the red was going to end, another girl in a red dress would arrive. Out of the 30 women in the running for Nick’s heart, 13 of them had a variation of red on. After awhile, it became hard for me to tell them apart, so I can only imagine how difficult of a time he had.
While some of the women seemed to have reservations considering his past behaviors, others seemed to be open minded to the changes in the new Nick Viall. Many women found ways to stand out to the bachelor. A few of the women actually got creative for their big appearance. Lacey showed up on a camel and one of the contestants ran into Nick’s arms, literally. Alexis arrived in a dolphin (or…shark?) costume, and someone from Nick’s dark past attempted to make a secretive arrival.
The first episode of every season is always the best because you get the chance to learn more about each contestant and form your own opinions. I think Nick has a good shot at marrying a great woman… if his one night stand with Liz doesn’t ruin his chance. Only time will tell. Even though there were quite a few ladies that made me cringe, there are a few I really liked.
Here are the Top 3 Contestants that I love and 3 I don’t really love.
Love:
Danielle L. – I really admired Danielle L’s confidence. She was the first woman to step out of the limo, and she gracefully walked over to Nick as if she’d known him for years. I really liked watching them interact with each other.
Danielle M. – Danielle M. seemed extremely genuine, but had a sense of mystery to her. This neonatal nurse was sweeter than the honey she gave Nick. I hope he keeps her around.
Vanessa – I liked Vanessa because of her bold personality and her unique outfit choice. She stood out to me because she seems like a real go-getter, and I have a feeling she will do very well in the competition for Nick’s heart.
Cringe-Worthy:
Crazy Christen – While Nick may have been a fan, I definitely wasn’t. At least she didn’t wear red!
Kissing Corinne – I am pretty sure she spells her name with a C because she is CRAZY! Corinne is definitely going to be a drama starter this season, but I hope she proves me wrong.
Hater Hailey – After Hailey was whining about Alexis (a.k.a. Dolphin/Shark Girl) getting a rose, I looked at her differently. Her jealousy was overpowering in my eyes.
Towards the end of the night, the tension started rising when the first impression rose was brought out on a sparkly plate. Those gelac nails somehow turned into claws for a lot of the women! Nick thought out carefully who he wanted to receive the first rose of the season though, and Rachel definitely deserved it.
I don’t know about you, but I think we are all in for a real treat this season. I want to hear who your Top 3 choices are, so tweet to us @PopHeartsTV! If you want to catch up on the first episode it is available here. You can also watch it every Monday night at 8|7 c on ABC.
