“The Bachelor” Week 2 Recap: Flings Don’t Guarantee A Ring… or Rose

This week we had twenty- two remaining bachelorettes and only one bachelor. Sounds like a recipe for disaster if you ask me. I have particularly strong feelings about the women this season. Most of them seem a little too young and immature for our 36 year old bachelor. I don’t even really have favorites yet! Maybe it’s still too soon to tell.

This week started off with a group date. The women dressed up like brides and bridesmaids and were told they were going to be in a photo-shoot with Nick. All the outfits had different themes to them and ranged from an 80’s bride all the way to a topless Eve bride. The photographer raised the stakes a little by mentioning that whoever had the best chemistry with Nick in the photos would win the challenge and be rewarded. During the photo-shoot, one girl particularly stood out. I think you all know I’m referring to our villain of the season, Corrine. Corrine was assigned the “bikini bridal look” and decided to straight up take her top off during her photo session. Everyone aside from Nick and the photographer seemed to be appalled. If that wasn’t enough, she even had Nick hold onto her bare boobs! I guess her risk was worth it because she ended up winning the challenge and winning more time with Nick.

Later at the group date cocktail party, Nick spent a little more one-on-one time with the girls. Corrine snagged him up first and to my dismay, Nick actually seems to really like her. Great. Raven our southern belle, spoke to him next. During her conversation we learned that she had been cheated on in a past relationship. Next, Nick had a chance to talk to Dolphin girl Alexis. They only got to talk for a bit before Corrine interrupted. After talking to Corrine a second time, Nick got some time with Taylor. During his conversation with Taylor, crazy Corrine came back! Yup, not kidding. Taylor got really peeved by this and decided to steal Nick back. Even though Corrine just did the same thing to about three girls, she gets really pissed and approaches Taylor in the most awkward passive aggressive way. This cocktail party was almost too hard to watch. Hopefully this isn’t foreshadowing the rest of the season. It does get a little worse though because Nick handed the group date rose to Corrine! Why!? This action makes the other women question his intentions. I don’t blame them. Does he really want to make someone like Corrine his wife?

The one-on-one date this week was with Danielle M. Danielle and Nick bonded over the fact that they’re from the same home town in Wisconsin. Other than this bond, I’m sad to say I didn’t really see a connection between the two. I really like Danielle but I almost feel like she’s too nice for Nick. She actually really reminds me of Whitney from Chris Soules’ season. Nick did end up giving her the rose, so hopefully she sticks around for a while.

The second group date this week took place at the Museum of Broken Relationships is Los Angeles. Yes, that’s a real place. All the girls had the task of acting out a pretend breakup with Nick in front of an audience. Most of the girls took this task lightly and used it as an opportunity to be silly and make Nick laugh. Liz however, had a different idea. She had been feeling like Nick was avoiding talking to her about their past fling so she decided to approach him on stage in front of everyone. She basically word vomits all over Nick and all the women watched in confusion. Nick isn’t happy about the situation and worries the other women will think he’s been keeping secrets from them. At the cocktail party, Nick sends Liz home and comes clean with the rest of the women on the group date. I personally don’t think Nick or Liz handled this situation maturely. Nick should have tackled it head on night one. Liz on the other hand, shouldn’t have aired Nick’s dirty laundry. I guess we’ll see how the women really feel about the situation next week.
