“The Bachelor” Week 8 Recap: Hometowns

The women are nervous that Nick is going to send another person home. Does it stop at Kristina or is there another woman that won’t get to take Nick to her hometown? Keep reading to find out!

Nick ended up bringing four roses to the girls. He explained to them that this process is a two way street and both people have a say. He offered each woman a rose and they all accepted! Looks like Nick will be visiting four women’s hometowns after all!

The first hometown date this week was Raven’s. Raven is someone who Nick always has a good time with so it was no surprise that their date went really well. I would argue it was the best of the night. Raven starts the date by picking Nick up on an ATV. She was dressed really casual and comfortable. One thing I love about Raven is that she is unapologetically herself. Raven is casual, fun, and goofy and her date stayed true to that. She takes Nick to a grain bin and starts to climb up. As they’re half way up, a police officer drives up and asks them to come down. Nick looked pretty nervous until he finds out the officer is Raven’s brother and the whole thing was planned! Later, Raven and Nick get extremely dirty (literally) and take a break from racing ATV’s by wrestling and making out in a swamp. Between Nick’s shirtless body and Raven’s legs straddling him, this moment looked like something out of a Nicholas Sparks book. Finally, Nick is taken to Raven’s house to meet the family. The emotions were high right off the bat when Raven’s parents told her that her dad is officially cancer free. Her dad is glad to know that he will be healthy enough to walk his daughter down the aisle one day. This was an extremely emotional moment for Raven (and me.) After dinner, Raven gets some alone time with her mom. Her mom asks her if she can tell Nick she loves him. Raven hasn’t done that yet and I guess her mom knows she has a hard time with it. Her mom advises her to put her heart out there. Next, Nick enters the hot seat when he decides to ask Raven’s dad if he’s comfortable with him potentially proposing to Raven at the end of this. He tells Nick that he didn’t expect to like him but he’s a very likeable guy and that he trusts his daughter. One dad down and two to go. Poor Nick! When the night comes to an end, Nick and Raven get some alone time. She wants to tell him she loves him but instead she tells him she has no hesitation on what could come from them. Raven says it’s hard for her to show weakness. I don’t blame her.

The second hometown date this week was with Rachel. I’ll be honest… I get a little annoyed and restless watching Rachel’s dates because we already know she doesn’t end up with Nick! I’m excited to see her as the bachelorette but I’m disappointed in ABC for the spoiler. Rachel starts the date by taking Nick to her predominantly black church. She wants Nick to see her daily life and make sure he feels comfortable/ fits in. Nick wont be meeting Rachel’s federal judge father on their date because he had a work obligation. I was a little disappointed because I was excited to see Nick squirm. Rachel takes Nick to her big beautiful family home where he’s going to meet her mom and three sisters. One of her sister’s husbands is also there and he and nick have something in common. They’re both white. Rachel’s brother-in-law said, “I can’t help but notice, you are a white.” That was by far the most awkward line of the night! Rachel’s family seems to be weary of the fact that Nick and Rachel would be an interracial couple because her mom asks Nick if he’s ever dated a black woman. Nick eases their minds and assures them that he sees Rachel for who she is as a person. Rachel’s mom tells her that she trusts her judgement.

Corrine’s hometown date of course included some retail therapy. Corrine claims she knows how to treat a man, so she took Nick shopping. She made him try on all kinds of clothes then spent over $3,000 on him. WHAT THE HELL! I want to go shopping with Corrine!

“I always thought I had expensive taste, and then I met Corrine.” – Nick

Later, Corrine tells Nick that she’s realized that she’s fallen for him and that she loves him. He kissed her and according to her, he gave her a “‘look” that told her he felt the same. At least he didn’t freak out this time! Nick met her parents, sister, and the infamous Raquel. Corrine’s family is Greek and they toasted Nick with olives and put him through the olive taste test. He passed! Corrine gets some alone time with her dad and tells him that she loves Nick. He then asked her if she’d be okay being the bread winner because she probably would be if she ended up with Nick. She said she would be because she cares about Nick that much. Later, Nick and Corrine’s dad get some alone time and he fills Nick in on his and Corrine’s conversation. Nick says he’s glad Corrine said that but he hopes to be the bread winner. Finally, he asked her father for his blessing and got it. Then we saw a soft side to Corrine when she told her mom that she’d be heart broken if Nick chose anyone else.

Vanessa began their date by introducing Nick to her special needs students. Her students get emotional about seeing her, and Nick sees how adored she actually is. Vanessa’s plan is to introduce Nick to both her parents separately since they are divorced. She wants him to see how it is for her to have to split her time between parents. First she takes him to her mom’s side. They have a loud Italian family and her entire extended family seems to be present. Her aunt asks the couple where they’d live if they got engaged and their lack of knowledge concerned her. Doesn’t seem like Vanessa and Nick have had those serious conversations. Nick described his time at Vanessa’s mom’s house to be a little tense. Her family seems to be overall pretty doubtful about their relationship. It seems as though she’s been really hurt before and her family is nervous to have her potentially experience something like that again. Nick didn’t feel like things went as smoothly as he’d hoped and he hasn’t even met her father yet! Yikes! They head over to her dad’s place and spend time with him and his wife. Nick gets alone time with Vanessa’s dad and asks him for his blessing. Nick got off easy with the last two dads but Vanessa’s dad isn’t going to make it that easy. He tells Nick that he can’t just give his blessing in this situation and then asks him he asked the other dad’s the same thing. Nick had to tell him he did and it was extremely awkward. I don’t blame Vanessa’s dad for reacting this way at all. He isn’t wrong. Later, Vanessa gets some alone time with her dad and tells him that if Nick proposed, she would say yes. Her dad told her Nick asked for his blessing and she got excited until she found out he also asked the other fathers. She said this news is a game changer and it makes her want to reevaluate things.

Preparing for the Rose Ceremony

In New York while everyone is mentally preparing for the rose ceremony, we see that Vanessa in particular has a lot of nerves. Shes having a hard time because she’s realizing Nick also cares for other woman. Then, to our dismay we have a surprise guest visiting Nick in his hotel room. IT’S ANDY! What does she want to say to Nick?! I guess we’ll find out next week…
