“The Bachelorette” Week 3 Recap

Hey bachelorette family! This week was an extra spectacular one because “The Bachelorette” was on Monday and Tuesday night! Yes, that means four hours of pure bachelorette bliss! This also means we have a lot to cover

Monday night’s episode began with the men waking up to an extremely messy mansion. It looked like there was a wild party there the night before, when in reality it was just a cocktail party. The men blamed Chad (as usual) and said the mess was caused by all his dirty plates but I don’t really see how he could’ve made that mess all by himself. The next scene showed Chris Harrison cleaning up the toilet paper that JoJo and one of the men used to “TP” the courtyard the night before. Okay, so maybe there was a wild party? I don’t think Chris Harrison is actually in charge of cleaning up toilet paper but if he is, he needs a raise.

Chase got the first one-on-one date this week. His date card said, “Let’s get physical.” I got excited and thought this date was an ode to Olivia Newton-John but turns out I was wrong. Instead, Chase and JoJo were going to do hot yoga on their date. This date was just as awkward as it sounds. JoJo and Chase were told to get their anger out in the form of an “angergasm.” After the liberating process of kicking and screaming, they moved to the “deep intimacy” portion of the class. JoJo was told to sit on Chase’s lap and stare into his eyes for a few minutes. The intimacy exercise must have worked because JoJo and Chase shared a passionate kiss. She said that even though it was extremely awkward and they were sweating all over each other, he made her feel safe and comfortable.  I definitely see a connection between Chase and JoJo. Chase sort of came out of nowhere but I like him. At the dinner portion of the night, JoJo learned that Chase comes from a family of divorce which makes him sure that he wants the opposite for his future. After dinner, JoJo surprised Chase with a Charles Kelley concert. The two danced and kissed and Chase said he “feels completed.”

Back at the mansion the men get the group date card which says, “Love has no secrets.” Chad is frustrated he’s on another group date and says he doesn’t want to go. The men get upset at Chad’s statement and they all take turns insulting him. Jordan called Chad dumb and Chad followed up by calling Jordan a failed football player. A few insults later and it’s time for the group date. The men are taken to a surprise show where they have no idea what’s going on. All they see is a lady on stage having an orgasm. She later admits that they are on a show called “Sex Talk.” The men are going to have the task of going on stage and telling a story about their sexual experiences. All the men were good sports about this, except for Chad. Chad felt JoJo didn’t deserve to hear stories about his past because they really don’t know each other well enough. Daniel’s story about hair cutting was extremely creepy. Evan decides to take this opportunity to take a few jabs at Chad. He uses his background in erectile dysfunction to diagnose Chad with a steroid problem. On the way back to his seat, Evan and Chad had a strange altercation which led to Chad ripping Evan’s shirt. JoJo saw this happening and asked Evan if he was okay. Chad was up next and he decided to call JoJo on stage and announced that he prefers to live in the present instead of the past. He led in to kiss JoJo but she turned her face and he kissed her cheek. All the men started cheering and Alex yelled, “crash and burn brother.” Chad was pissed so he walked backstage and punched a door, which made his knuckles bleed. Then he walked up to Evan and shoved him and all the men (including his bro Daniel), took Evan’s side.

At the group date cocktail party, Jordan talks to JoJo first. She knows she likes Jordan but she says he’s “hard to read”, which worries her. Vinny attempts to get deeper with Chad and Chad expresses that he’s just been trying to stand up for himself. Chad says he’s a good guy but the men are trying to make him look bad. Evan decides to stand up to Chad again because he’s upset that Chad ripped his shirt. Evan asks Chad why he’s even here and an infuriated Chad asks Even to just stay away from him then insults Grant by saying he looks like the “big SpongeBob face.” During Chad’s conversation with JoJo, Evan walks up and interrupts. Chad leaves and Evan gives JoJo an ultimatum. He tells JoJo that if she doesn’t send Chad home, he’ll leave. This made me angry. If I was JoJo, I’d send Evan home just for giving me an ultimatum but JoJo actually ends up giving Evan the group date rose to make him feel better. Chad didn’t react well to this and JoJo confronted him in front of every one by saying he was being disrespectful and she didn’t like this side of him.

Back at the house, tensions rise and no one feels safe. Derek doesn’t feel safe sharing a room with Chad so the men request a security guard. Chad is upset about the security guard so Daniel tries to give him advice. Daniel tells Chad he’s a “loose cannon” and that he is getting “dragged down” just by hanging out with him. Daniel says his bromance with Chad is making him “look bad.” Then Daniel tries to compare Chad to Hitler, Donald Trump, and Mussolini. Not sure what Daniel was attempting to do here but it was hilarious. Daniel ends his speech with, “be more of a Bush.”

James T. got the next one-on-one date. JoJo and James were going to be “kicking it old school” by taking swing dancing lessons. After the lessons they are surprised by a swing dancing flash mob. Even though James claims he’s a bad dancer, him and JoJo had a swingin’ time. JoJo knows she likes James as a friend but she needed this date to see if they had chemistry. Later that night, James tells JoJo about him getting bullied when he was younger. Apparently kids used to pick on him for having a long neck and big ears. They even used to call him “Luke long neck” (which makes no sense, because his name is James). For this reason, James doesn’t feel like he is physically attractive. JoJo reassures him and gives him the rose. James plays the guitar and sings a song that makes JoJo emotional. JoJo likes James because he makes her feel a way she isn’t used to. “Love is on the rise.” – James T.

The next day Chris Harrison announces that JoJo has decided there will not be a cocktail party. Instead, JoJo wants to spend the whole day with the men and have a pool party! Evan approaches Chris Harrison separately and basically rats out Chad. Chris pulls Chad aside to talk and asks him to work out the issues he has with the other men in the house. On Tuesday night’s episode, we see Chad’s attempt at settling things. Chad addressed the issue and told the men to just leave him alone. Evan speaks up and says Chad owes him an apology and a new shirt. Even really needs to get over the shirt thing. Chad offers to give Evan twenty dollars. The end result was a mutual understanding to all leave each other alone.

At the pool party, things seem to be going well and every one is having fun. Evan’s nose randomly starts bleeding but he’s okay. Chad feels like every one is using their one-on-one time to talk about him and he’s basically right. JoJo asks Derek about Chad and he tells her about the security guard and about him not feeling comfortable in his own room. Chad over hears this happening and pulls Derek aside. One guy yells, “do you need backup bro?” while the other men just eavesdrop on the whole conversation. Derek tells Chad that he doesn’t think he’s there for the right reasons.

At the rose ceremony we said good bye to three men. I was sad to see Nick go. Chad should have gone in his place. JoJo announces that she wants to let go of all the drama from this past week because they are going to take a trip to Pennsylvania! Kinda random, I know.

Luke got the first one-on-one date in Pennsylvania. His date card read, “I like you very mush.” If you remember from week one, Luke is third on my list so I was excited for this date. JoJo and Luke take a dog sled to a wood fire hot tub. JoJo made Luke chop wood to heat the tub. As JoJo is getting into the tub she screams because it’s too hot. Luke has to slowly carry her into the tub which melted my heart. Later that night,  JoJo asks Luke where he gets his “quiet confidence” from. Luke talks about his war experience and about him losing a close friend to the war in Afghanistan. His loss really hit him hard but it gave him a new outlook on life. He said he lives for the moments that make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck. He tells JoJo that their date was one of those moments because her eyes could be the eyes he looks into for the rest of his life. He totally won over JoJo and everyone watching with that line. No date is complete without a surprise concert so JoJo surprised Luke with a Dan + Shay concert. They danced and kissed in front of hundreds of people and she whispered to Luke that he didn’t want this night to end. JoJo said, “I know Luke will be an amazing husband.”

Back at the house, the group date card gets read and Alex and Chad are the only ones not on it. Everyone knows this means they are going to be on a two-on-one date. Alex says Chad is going home. The men all start yelling weird things. Jordan says Alex is a “real American hero” and that “this is for America”. Alex says this date is going to be “good versus evil” but Chad says its actually a “grown man versus an angry child.” The other men say things like, “eye of the tiger” and “survivor”. One guys yells out, “battle royal.”

On the group date the men are going to be divided into two teams and compete in a football game. The winners get to spend the rest of the date with JoJo. While warming up, James T. hurts himself and needs stitches but decides to keep playing anyway. Evan claims he’s “in the zone” but instead, his nose starts bleeding again. The blue team ended up winning, thanks to Derek. “I spell win E-V-A-N.” – Evan

At the cocktail party with the blue team, Robby gets some one-on-one time with JoJo and things heat up fast. They spent most of their time making out on the pool table. JoJo ended up promising Robby that they would get more time together. Later, JoJo and Jordan get some time and she tells him (again) that he’s “hard to read.” He reassures her that hes falling for her and she gave him the group date rose.

At the house, things are getting even more heated between Chad and Alex. Their date card comes and it says, “let’s get lost.” All the men continue to argue with Chad and Chad threatens to find Jordan after the show is over and beat his ass. The men are worried Chad will fool JoJo but they know Alex is a stand up guy. JoJo says she’s nervous about this date because she knows Alex and Chad don’t get along. She announces that they will be going on a hike. After the hike, JoJo pulls Alex aside and asks Alex about Chad. Alex basically tells her everything . JoJo doesn’t know if Chad actually is a jerk or if he’s just struggling because of his mom’s passing. Then JoJo pulls Chad aside and confronts him. She tells him what Alex told her then said she just needs some time to think. Chad is angry and says to Alex, “I’m not very happy with you. I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed.” Then he expresses his frustration about not being able to hurt Alex without getting into trouble. JoJo approaches the two men and tells Chad that she doesn’t think he’s the person he says he is and that she doesn’t want someone like that. She gave Alex the rose and said bye to Chad. The men see the guard take Chad’s luggage and they start having a party.

During Alex and JoJo’s date, Chad starts wondering through the forest and whistling like a creep. He says he’s looking for Alex. The last thing we saw before the episode ended was Chad walking up to the door of the house and tapping on the sliding glass door. The men see him and freak out. That’s how the episode ended.

Tune in Monday, June 20 at 8/7c on ABC to see what scary thing Chad does next! Share your thoughts below or tweet us @PopHeartsTV!
