“The Bachelorette” Week 5 Recap

This week bachelor nation traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina! This passion filled city was the perfect atmosphere for our girl JoJo to get even closer to her hunky men. This week there were three dates. There was a one-on-one date, a group date, and another two-on-one date. Yes, you read that correctly! For the first time ever in bachelor history we were forced to experience a season with a second two-on-one date!

Wells was the lucky winner of the one-on-one. His date card read, “Besame, Besame Muchacho.” After reading the date card, Wells admits to the men that he is in fact the only guy in the house that has yet to kiss JoJo. The men gave Wells a really hard time about this and said that JoJo was basically begging him to kiss her already. When JoJo comes over to pick up Wells, one of the men asks them if they are going to kiss today. JoJo chuckles and Wells awkwardly walks out with her. I thought this whole scene was pretty funny because the men are basically making fun of Wells for not having kissed their shared girlfriend. They must not feel threatened by him at all. The whole date is a bit awkward because Wells is just waiting for the perfect moment to kiss JoJo and she’s just waiting for him to do it already. At one point, Wells goes in for a kiss and ends up kissing JoJo on the cheek. Poor Wells. He’s just trying to be a gentlemen. They head behind the scenes of a famous show in Argentina called Fuerza Bruta. They are essentially going to learn to do some of the stunts that are performed on the show. One of which involves sliding back and fourth on a moving platform filled with water. Apparently being tossed back and fourth in water is romantic because Wells finally went in for that first awkward kiss! After he kissed her, JoJo expressed her joy by shouting, “We did it! That was our moment!” Back at the house, the men are talking about the fact that they don’t think JoJo will keep Wells. At the dinner portion of their date, JoJo asks Wells about his last relationship. Wells starts sweating and tells her that he ended his four year long relationship with his ex because they were just two friends living together and there was no real passion between them. This resonated with JoJo because that’s sort of how she feels about Wells. She ended up sending Wells home because it just didn’t feel 100% between them.

Back at the house, the men receive the group date card which reads, “Living La Vida Boca.” The only two men not on the date card are Chase and Derek, which means they will be on the two-on-one. JoJo explains to the men that on the group date they will be walking around town exploring. James T. is feeling a little self conscious around the other men. The men and JoJo decide to play a casual game of soccer with the locals. One of the locals decides that who ever makes a goal will get to kiss JoJo. James T. ends up winning the kiss but it still isn’t enough to make him feel better about his relationship with JoJo. At the group date cocktail party, Luke is the first to talk to JoJo and she was all over him! The sexual tension between these two is so real that I was even blushing watching their steamy make-out session. I almost felt like I should have covered my eyes and gave them some privacy. Luke is a front runner for sure! I just wish he’d crack a joke every now and then. Next, JoJo talks to James T. She tells him that she feels like he has been a “little off” lately. He decides to blame Jordan for his mood and attempts to bad mouth Jordan by saying that he “thinks he’s a celebrity and the ultimate source of wisdom.” James feels that Jordan is here for the wrong reasons. JoJo says she appreciates him sharing his concerns with her. She thinks he’s just being protective of her. I don’t agree with JoJo. I think James busted a Leah (Ben’s season) and was just bad mouthing Jordan to save his own ass. I sort of lost respect for James. JoJo pulls Jordan aside and addresses what James told her. Jordan chuckles and JoJo tells him it isn’t funny because she’s taking this seriously. He doesn’t really comfort her as much as he should. He basically just tells her that he isn’t entitled. When Jordan joins the men again, things get awkward. One of the men points out that Jordan is acting weird. Jordan confronts James and says that what he did was pathetic. James looks scared but admits to talking to JoJo. The group date rose went to Luke (shocker).

The two-on-one date card read, “It takes two.” There is definite tension between Chase and Derek. Chase even compares this date to going into battle together. Derek seems really confident and Chase is just frustrated. On this date they will be doing a three person tango. The men are basically fighting over JoJo in tango form. At the dinner portion of the date, JoJo pulls Derek aside first. He tells her that he’s falling for her. Next, she talks to Chase. She tells him that she doesn’t feel the reciprocation of feelings from him and that she can tell he’s scared. She basically pulls the feelings out of him and says that she needs reassurance just as much as he does. He validates her feelings and they kiss. JoJo ended up giving the rose to chase. Derek’s good bye was the saddest this season! JoJo and Chase proceed to the musical portion of the evening where they slow dance to the song “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina.” We are then shown scenes of JoJo and Chase dancing then flashes of a broken hearted Derek crying in the car.

At the rose ceremony cocktail party, Jordan pulls JoJo aside and tells her that she is the person he “wants to do life with.” She’s ecstatic that he’s finally talking about his feelings. Alex is upset that he’s the only person that hasn’t gotten a one-on-one date. While handing out roses, JoJo leaves James and Alex for last. JoJo walks out before handing out the final rose and tells Chris Harrison that she doesn’t want to send anyone home. JoJo ends up keeping everyone and Alex feels that he got a pity rose while James is extremely grateful.
