As you recall “Potential Energy” ended with everyone home safely. We know Nick was in the house as the fam-bam was on the way home. When Stef did her sweep of the home Nick was nowhere to be found, so lets see if we can find him!
No surprise police mom Stef polices the kids and asks for the phones and laptops. Takes percussion and tells everyone that no one can leave he house and to keep all doors and windows locked but bedroom doors must stay open. As all the kids start going got get their stuff Brandon asks if they are going to talk about him and Callie, Stef says not at the moment.
“SAFE” because a very suspenseful episode, honestly it felt like a horror movie with all the shadows that are shown, family members creeping up unexpectedly. Gives The Fosters a new twist! Okay that was just a small side note, back to the show!

Later that day, Mariana is upset about the incident with Justina. She is disgusted that everyone is spreading rumors about Callie sleeping with Brandon. Mariana wants to get even but Callie plays it off like its no big deal. Eventually, Callie tells Mariana the truth after she sees that Brandon goes into her room to wake Callie up so they can talk. Stef catches them btw!!! When they get caught Brandon again tries to ask Stef if they can talk about him and Callie. When Stef says that they will talk tomorrow, Brandon tells her that he cant because he is going to help Courtney move into her new place. Stef repeats that no one can leave the house.
The next morning Stef finds out that Brandon has left the house. She goes over to Courtney’s house and pretty much drags him out of there so they can talk. After Stef blames Brandon for what happened between him and Callie she asks him to get his stuff and go home. Brandon tells her that he is not going home that he is moving in with Courtney! Total heartbreak for Stef! Though, legally Brandon is able to be on his own since he is 18, and boy, or I mean (man) did he make that clear!
Back at home, Mariana, Callie and AJ find a way to get into Justina’s account so they can post a picture of the check she received from arbiter, only it will seem as if Justina posted it herself. Sneaky kids nowadays!

So ummm. Where is Nick?
From Brandon being scared in the garage when he went to get his piano, to Callie being freighted when both AJ and Brandon walk into her room, (different scenes of course) to the viewers seeing a shadow as Mariana is showering and then Mariana screaming when she opens the curtains (its Callie btw) to Stef hearing all those noises in the garage, the attic and in one of the rooms we finally see Nick!!
While Mariana tries to nap, Nick enters her room. He tells her not to yell. He has the gun in his hands and just starts crying and saying he hears voices in his head and he can’t make them go away. He says he hates them, hates everything and even hates Mariana. We also learn that his dad was abusing Nick, and that his dad would say that him hitting Nick hurt him more than it hurt Nick. He also expresses to Mariana how mad he is that she kissed Matt. At this point he is pointing the gun at Mariana. PAUSE! I literally had to pause my TV just to compose myself. Mariana made it out alive at school; will she make it out safe again? Lets continue. Mariana begins to tall Nick that she doesn’t love Matt she in fact loves him. Nick doesn’t believe her and he says he just wants all the pain to go away so he points the gun to his head! OH-EM-GEE!! Another hand to mouth! Will he do it? Mariana continues to talk to him and keep him calm. She tells him that everything will be okay, and he says it wont because he caused the fire, which means he’s going to jail. When Callie is heading back to the room she sees that Nick is there. Matt is about to enter the room but Callie tells him to go get Stef. When Stef gets upstairs, she slowly enters the room and she sees Nick lying with his head on Marianas lap while holding her. Stef reaches for the gun and removes the bullets. She tells Nick to relax and that it’s all over. The cops show up and arrest him. As Nick is getting in the back seat of the cop car, Jesus arrives and yells his name and they just look at each other. I can just see the pain of betrayal that Jesus must have felt.
As the scene comes to an end, Jesus goes to Mariana to check on her and we can see the bond between the twins.
Tune in next week to see what happens next! I have so many questions that I need answers too!
