Trouble is a-brewin’ on “Young & Hungry” and it’s just in time for the holiday season! After months of knowing that Jackée Harry would be gracing “Young and Hungry” with her hilarious self, the time is finally here. On Tuesday, Nov. 24 the hit ABC Family show is bringing together Kym Whitley and her celebrity doppelgänger Jackée for some holiday trouble fun!
The two have been mistaken for each other throughout their careers, so it was only necessary to bring them together as sisters, Yolanda and Jolanda. I had the chance to chat with Kym about the upcoming Christmas episode, her role as Yolanda, and Jackée’s guest spot.
“I’ve known Jackée for a while now and it was a lot of fun. She is very funny on and off the set. I wanted people to see us, since a lot of people think we are the same person. It’s great that the world can now see us both on screen at the same time, so people can see we are two different people.” Whitley explains.
When I asked Kym about the Christmas episode specifically and what fans could expect to see, she mentioned that Gabby will be up to her normal shenanigans, where she thinks she is doing good, but it turns on her. “She means well, but it always turns around. It’s always the young girls trying to do good, but it turns,” she said. “Josh, he’s there for Elliot, being Elliot’s friend, after Elliot’s husband goes on a trip.”
Things with Yolanda seemingly take a turn for the worst when her estranged sister Jolanda, played by Jackée, enters the picture, “Her sister and her obviously were not speaking — they’re estranged. I’m the good one, I’ve always been good” Kym laughs, but mentions, “It’s a family feud and we try to work it out and hopefully she will come back.” One thing is certain with these sisters, Jolanda is much sassier than Yolanda, Kym tells me. I’m not sure how that can even be possible, but I will definitely be tuning in to see this sass-off!
When asked about season three and where Kym would love to see Yolanda she tells me, “I’d like Yolanda to get a makeover, get sexier, and date younger men.” Well, okay then… Maybe she will get another sexy deaf window washer again!
When looking back, her favorite episode was from season one, when Yolanda and Elliot ended up in bed together. I’ll have to admit, that was one of my favorite episodes too!
I want to thank Kym Whitley for chatting with me. Get excited Youngries, they head back on set in December to start filming season three! In the meantime, make sure to follow Kym on Twitter @KymWhitley
