Zayn Malik Signs A New Record Deal With RCA

Four months after Zayn Malik left One Direction, he’s finally ready to start making music again! Granted the 22-year-old has been covering songs during his downtime, but this time he’ll actually be able to produce his own tracks now that he’s officially on the RCA roster.

Congrats, Zayn! The initial announcement came when Zayn tweeted on July 29, “I guess I never explained why I left , it was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who i really am! #realmusic #RCA !!” While it kind of looked like the former boy band member threw his brothers over at One Direction under the bus with the hashtag ‘real music,’ Zayn just meant he was ready to start making music that comes solely from him. Music that he cares about, not too hard to understand, right?

The singer’s impromptu Twitter announcement came a day before RCA and Syco Music revealed the big news. Even Simon Cowell had something to say about the new record deal Zayn signed. “With RCA, Zayn has the perfect label to work with on his solo career,” Simon said in a press release. “They are excited about working with him and I am sure whatever they release together will be special.” It will certainly be special.

We’re sure Zayn girls and One Direction fans alike will support the singer in all of his solo endeavors. We can’t wait to see what he plans to release for his first solo single!
