2016 Billboard Music Awards: Five Things To Look Forward To

The “2016 Billboard Music Awards” are airing LIVE from Las Vegas, Sunday, May 22 at 8 p.m. ET. Hip-hop artist and actor, Ludacris is back this year with hosting duties with a new co-host, singer, Ciara. With 43 categories and countless performance, I’m sharing the top five things I can’t wait for at this year’s music award show!

Number 5 – The Weeknd’s Nomination Domination

The Weeknd dominates the categories with a total of 16 nods. Not only is he a first time nominee, he leads the pack with the most nominations! The Weeknd could set the record for taking home the most trophies in one night. That single-night mark is held by Adele with 12 trophies in 2012.

Number 4 – Taylor Swift Breaks Her Own Record

It’s quite possible that Taylor Swift could beat her all-time record for the most BBMA wins (she has 20)! Swifties unite, let’s get our favorite singer born in 1989 some trophies!

Number 3 – Taylor Swift vs. Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber is a finalist in 11 categories and we all know that this is The Biebs’ year. He also recently won his first Grammy. If he takes home more than eight trophies, he has the chance of beating Taylor Swift’s current all-time leading record of 20, pending other results.

Number 2 – P!nk Performing Newest Single, “Just Like Fire”

The performances are always my favorite part of the show. This year we get a special treat with P!nk making her return and debuting her new single “Just Like Fire” from Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glass. We’ve seen the Cirque du Soleil type of performances she has done in the past, so I am eager to watch how creative P!nk gets at the show!

Number 1 – Justin Bieber Performance

It was announced this morning that the “Sorry” singer will be performing a medley of his famous songs. His latest album Purpose, opened at #1 in over 100 countries around the world, and has gone on to sell over 7 million copies globally in just five months.

Billboard Music Awards finalists are based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital songs sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring and social engagement. Make sure to tune-in Sunday, May 22!
