BEYONCE, BEYONCE, BEYONCE! Queen B dominated everything hot in pop culture this week. From releasing a new politically driven single/music video and bringing it to life at the Super Bowl to announcing her Formation world tour, Beyonce has done it all this week! Looks like the Queen will not be stepping down from her thrown anytime soon, I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
FORMATION
On February 6th, Beyonce released the music video to her new single, Formation. The video touches on the singer’s southern roots, and the beauty of natural hair, all surrounding the efforts of the Black Lives Matter movement. Statements against police brutality can be seen throughout the video. Clips include a spray painted wall reading “Stop shooting us,” a young African American boy dancing in front of police troops causing the officers to surrender in defeat, lastly, Queen B makes a lasting impression at the end of the video where she is seen laying on top of a sinking cop car.
SUPER BOWL PERFORMANCE
Followed by the release of Formation, Beyonce debuted the single and put on an unforgettable performance at the Super Bowl Half Time Show alongside Coldplay and Bruno Mars. The performance paid homage to black history and celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Black Panthers. Both Beyonce and her back up dancers wore outfits similar to the Black Panther uniform. Queen B’s performance forced millions of viewers to think about and hopefully want to fight against racial injustices of today. Well done B!

WHO’S EXCITED?! What an incredible way to end a stream of song and performance drops that fight for social justice and against inequality, by announcing a world tour that keeps the buzz going and keeps the momentum of the Black Lives Matter movement going. No wonder why Beyonce deserves to be called Queen!
