“The Bachelor” Recap: Hometown Visits

It’s the final countdown!!!

That’s right folks, things are gettin’ REAL on “The Bachelor” and Ben is under a lot of pressure to make some big decisions. He’s eliminated all of the chicken enthusiasts and psychopaths (Olivia, borderline Leah) and now this is the real deal. Ben cares about all 4 of these women and wants to meet their families.

I, however, feel differently. But let’s dive into this episode, and I’ll elaborate!

FIRST FAMILY VISIT: Amanda

Let’s be honest, guys, I think we all knew meeting Amanda’s family either solidified her getting a rock on her finger, or sending her packing faster than her daughters can say “Doc McStuffins”.

I never thought Amanda would make it to the final two, however, a small part of me felt that after Ben met her kids he liked her more. I mean, come on people, whose ovaries DIDN’T start screaming when he picked up her little one on the beach? That was a sweet moment.

THE BACHELOR - "Episode 2008" - The stakes are high as Ben crisscrosses the country on an exciting, emotionally charged journey to visit the final four women's hometowns. Ben travels to Orange County, CA to meet Amanda, the single mother with two adorable little girls, but her concerned parents wonder if he is ready to be an immediate full-time dad. Lauren B. shows Ben around her hometown of Portland, OR, but he must face serious questions from her sister. Caila shares some places with Ben that she holds near and dear to her in Hudson, OH; however, her father subjects the Bachelor to a grilling to see if he is worthy of his daughter. Finally, Ben is off to Dallas to meet Jo Jo, only to find her in tears as an unexpected surprise threatens to derail their romance. Ben must make a gut-wrenching decision to narrow the field to three women. Will one of them be his wife? Find out on "The Bachelor," airing MONDAY, FEBRUARY 22 (8:00-10:01 p.m. EST) on the ABC Television Network. (ABC/Greg Zibilski) AMANDA, BEN HIGGINS

SECOND FAMILY VISIT: Lauren B

I said it before and I’ll say it again: Lauren B is going to win. I can feel it!! You can tell with Ben’s body language plus he is extra handsy with her. Also, the tear session he had with LB’s sister when explaining his feelings for her had me weeping too! Ben’s nice words about Lauren B to her family felt the most real and the most sincere, IMHO.

THIRD FAMILY VISIT: Caila

Because of Caila’s insecurity in the last episode, I think she was DEFINITELY overcompensating with her cheeriness this week. While I thought early on Ben was really into her, I think he has realized this is as complex as his relationship with Caila will get and his interests have shifted to being more into LB and Jojo.

FOURTH FAMILY VISIT: Jojo

First of all, I’m not sure if it’s because I work in the TV business, have seen every episode of Lifetime’s “Unreal” twice, or because I have a keen sense of smell that can detect overly-produced bullcrap on reality TV, but that card/flower surprise from the ex irritated me. I’m sure the producers arranged the ex bf to reach out to Jojo and conveniently planted it during her most important date to throw her for a loop and spice up the episode, but I don’t like the idea of the show messing with fate. Regardless, I don’t think the producers needed to create that ex bf bit to make her family visit interesting- Jojo’s family did all the work for them. From overly affectionate hellos with Jojo while simultaneously snubbing Ben to showing way too many reaction shots of Jojo’s awkward little sister, I’d say this family visit was a disastrous one. I’ll save the Botox jokes for a meaner blogger to take, but I will point out that Jojo’s brothers gave me the creepiest vibe I have ever seen from a “real” TV family. Something about those two dudes tells me they are both attracted to their sister, and possibly to each other- RUN BEN RUN! Also, a little birdie informed me that one of her brothers was on the show “Ready For Love”. If that is true, then these two creepy love bros have no place bullying Ben for being on “The Bachelor”! Last note: if you re-watch the scene of the brothers confronting Ben in the kitchen, you will catch Mom in the background drinking wine straight from the bottle. She’s got the right idea.

I was pretty convinced that Jojo was going home this episode, but I guess Ben cares more about not being a step-dad for Amanda’s kids than he does joining Jojo’s family of nut jobs.

Prediction: Since Ben seemed the least interested in Caila, I am going to say the final two will be Lauren B. and Jojo. I think he will overall pick Lauren B to be his wife. I am a big fan of the Lauren-Ben relationship. What do you guys think?? Comment below your thoughts and opinions and tweet with me @TheKylieHodges! See y’all next week!!!
