Dove Cameron and Ryan McCartan have officially called it off. After four years of dating and an engagement, the on-and-off-screen couple are no more.
Yesterday, both Dove and Ryan took to Twitter to confirm their split. It sounds as if Dove is the one who broke it off with Ryan. Earlier this week, people noticed Ryan had unfollowed Dove on both Instagram and Twitter. This was when inquiries about the break up started going around. It wasn’t until Ryan tweeted to confirm the rumor is true.
Dove has decided this relationship isn’t what she wants. We still love each other very much. Please be sensitive, as this is painful.

Later that evening, Dove tweeted her confirmation as well saying:
Thank you for your support & full hearts in this very intense & human time. There’s a lot love between Ryan & I. Life is beautiful & long.

Up until this moment, there has been no sign of trouble in the relationship. Lack of posts on social media may have been an indication, but there seems to be nothing but love from these two. Scheduling conflicts may have been an issue as Ryan is busy with FOX’s “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” while Dove is currently filming “Descendants 2” and is also starring in NBC’s “Hairspray Live!”
The two met on the set of their show “Liv and Maddie,” and went completely public about their relationship in August 2013. Ryan had announced their engagement on April 14th, calling Dove his “fiancée” in an Instagram post.
This past April, right after the engagement was announced, PopHearts TV got to interview Dove at the Race to Erase MS Gala, and she shared about the engagement.
“So much of our relationship is public,” says Dove when asked about the proposal.
Whatever the case may have been that caused these two lovebird to split, we hope them both the very best!
