Callie Gets Denied From UCSD

(FREEFORM, GREG GAYNE)

The episode begins with Callie finding a letter in the mail from The University Of California, San Diego. When she goes to open it later, she reads the bitter words “we regret to inform you..”

Later that day, Jude talks to Callie and asks her about their dinner plans with his dad. She says she has a lot of homework and would rather not go but he tries to convince her. Eventually she gives in and they both end up going.

At dinner there was some pretty awkward conversation. Maybe even some hostile feelings….Jude asks where Donald’s girlfriend’s ex husband is and she says that they divorced awhile ago because he wasn’t really into being a dad. Jude’s reply? “Yeah it sucks when that happens.”

After dinner, Jude goes upstairs with Donald’s girlfriends son to play video games. Meanwhile, Callie and Donald sit down and talk about life. He notices that she took off her moms locket and she explains why. When he asks about art school she drops the bomb about not getting in. She says she can go to Portland State and work with their art program.

Callie Reflects On Life

(FREEFORM, GREG GAYNE)

As they continue to catch up, he brings up how she says she never lets herself want anything too much but when she does want something, it tends to work out. He asks why she thinks she didn’t get into art school and she admits they may have sensed that she didn’t let her want it bad enough. While they finish the conversation, his girlfriend comes out and says that Jude is no where to be found and must have left the house. As Callie drives around looking for him, she finds Jude walking around the streets.

Jude shows up the next day to Donald’s house and apologizes for what he did the other night. He admits that he left early that night because he felt betrayed. Reflecting on her conversation with Donald, Callie shows up to UCSD and catches Helen about appealing her decision to the art school. Helen tells her the reason she didn’t get into the program was because the passion she carries wasn’t in her artwork and maybe she should go where her passion lies. She tells her maybe art isn’t her true calling.

Tess Causes World War III

There has been a lot of tension in the Fosters household during this whole Tess ordeal. Especially, between Stef and Lena. In bed that night, it reaches a new high. They start to discuss the retreat that Stef’s mom wanted them to do to see if that will resolve their problems.

The next day in the kitchen, Lena and Stef get into a heated argument about what Tess said to Mariana and the entire situation. While they are in the middle of it, Logan comes over..as they walk upstairs he hears Lena shout, “Why does it bother you so much that Tess might be a lesbian?” Oh no…this can’t end well.

As Stef and Lena finish their argument, Mariana storms in and tells them Logan found out about his mom…When she walks back into her room, she finds Emma looking at her laptop and sees the internship open. Emma tells her she cannot apply for the same internship. While they are fighting, Jesus walks in. Emma asks him what happened today and he says he was helping Poppy get ready for her jammer tryout and storms out claiming she isn’t a priority anymore.

Tess shows up knocking on the door and asks if Stef is there and Lena tells her she can no longer drag anyone into her mess. She asks her to please leave them alone because they have their own problems to deal with. Stef walks over to Lena after hearing what she just said to Tess. She asks Stef if she has feelings for Tess and she says she has feelings for Tess about her. When Lena asks if she is unhappy with her life she tells her she is unhappy with herself..

Mariana and Poppy vs. Emma

Mariana met with her school counselor and discussed future colleges she would like to attend. But her counselor was quick to give her the harsh reality of how competitive those schools actually are and reminds her that staying with the STEAM club could be her factor in getting in.

She decides to apply for an internship program in LA that Emma also happens to be applying for. Her decision creates extreme tension between her and Emma.

Later that day, roller derby tryouts take part. And Mariana made the team! So did Emma…who wants the jammer spot that Mariana and Poppy have been practicing hard for. Jesus promises to help Poppy work on it.

Later at jammer tryouts, Emma decides to step up and try out for the spot. Poppy looks to Jesus for affirmation that she can do it. Mariana and Emma end up getting the jammer spot. Everyone, including Jesus, is pretty disappointed in what Emma just did. Emma asks Jesus if he is mad at her and he tells her about how she screwed Poppy over. Emma tells Ximena that she doesn’t want to be jammer and she wants Poppy to have it.

The Ghost in Grace’s Apartment

Brandon goes over to Grace’s apartment for the weekend and she says the good news is her mom is gone…the bad news is her ghost is back…what?! He thinks she is a little crazy.

Brandon and Grace rehearse their music and it sounds amazing. After they finish a song she recommends writing an entirely new set. While they take a break, she mentions that she feels like the ghost is watching. As soon as Brandon says there are no such thing as ghosts a picture falls off the wall.

He asks why she is sabotaging everything and why this ghost has come back. She admits that she is scared because she only feels him when she is sick and now she is worried that she is still sick. She explains how every time she is sick she feels this ghost presence around her. She says it feels like a heaviness.

Brandon tells Grace that according to a website she should talk to the ghost and tell him how she feels. Brandon even joins in and tries to fight off the ghost. It is actually pretty cute.

The next morning, Grace seems to be in a better mood. She also tells Brandon that she thinks her treatment is working and that she is getting better. Thank goodness, fingers crossed!
