Nickelodeon is expanding the world of the number-one kids’ series, Henry Danger, with the launch of Danger Force, a brand-new original live-action spinoff. The show premieres Saturday, March 28 at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon!
The new series stars two of the most beloved characters from Henry Danger, Ray/Captain Man (Cooper Barnes) and Schwoz (Michael D. Cohen), and introduces four new superheroes-in-training as they team up to fight crime in their town of Swellview.
In Danger Force, four kids are recruited to attend Swellview Academy for the Gifted (SW.A.G. for short), a school conceived by Captain Man and brought to life by Schwoz, after having been accidentally mutated in the fight to save Swellview.
While there, the kids must learn to harness their frequently troublesome and sometimes uncontrollable superpowers as they begin to fight crime. Despite the dangerous circumstances of their new lives, the superheroes must keep their real identities a secret from both from their families and the villains who are out to destroy them.
Danger Force is created and executive produced by Christopher J. Nowak (Henry Danger, Sam & Cat), and produced by Cooper Barnes and Jace Norman (Henry Danger).
We had a chance to catch up with some of the cast before the premiere, check out our interview with them below!
Were you fans of Henry Danger before learning of this show and what were your thoughts after learning you would be part of the show?
Haven Flores: “Not really, my family and I are big into being outside and playing sports, so we don’t watch a lot of TV, but I binge watched it when I found out and it was very exciting!”
Terrence Little Gardenhigh: “Yes, I was a fan! I have been watching since I was seven or eight years old. I felt honored to join the show because Henry Danger was, and still is, my favorite to watch. I’m still in shock sometimes that I get to carry the torch for the next generation of Henry Danger fans. “
Dana Heath: “I was a definite fan of Henry Danger before I ever knew about Danger Force. When I learned I would be a part of Danger Force I was super excited and ready to go!”
Luca Luhan: “I figured out that it was a Henry Danger spinoff while I was auditioning. They changed the names to things like Jay for Ray and Steve for Schwoz. There was something crossed out that I could still read. It read Schwoz. I got even more excited and am thrilled I get to be a part of the spinoff.”
What will fans find unexpected about the show?
Haven Flores: “That they may get to see some familiar faces. It’s new but we still have lots that Henry Danger fans will love!”
Terrence Little Gardenhigh: “We are all super different but somehow, we work best together. No matter how crazy a situation gets, we all will come together to make sure everything is okay.”
Dana Heath: “All the unexpected antics and situations we find ourselves in while learning to control our powers.”
Luca Luhan: “Danger Force is very different than Henry Danger. Different Man Cave, different powers, different storyline, and much more.”
What has been the best part about making this show?
Haven Flores: “Being with the crew and my castmates, it’s fun to be on set. I also really like school on set, my teachers are great.”
Terrence Little Gardenhigh: My favorite part of making this show is doing the stunts. I love getting in the harness and being lifted in the air. I wish I could perform my own stunts!
Dana Heath: “Being able to tell the stories our very talented writers create for us.”
Luca Luhan: “The best parts are the relationships. I’m so glad we are already so close!”
In the show, you must keep part of your identity a secret. If you had one hidden super power in real life, what would you want to have and why?
Haven Flores: “Shape shifting! It would be cool to be whatever I want.”
Terrence Little Gardenhigh: “If I could have one super power in real life, it would be invisibility. I could be in the room like a ghost and make things move without people knowing what is going on. It would be cool to know what people are doing when they do not think anyone is looking.”
Dana Heath: “If I had a hidden super power in real life I would want to be able to turn invisible because I think it would be a lot of fun messing around with people and I think it would be a very useful power to have.”
Luca Luhan: “I would want to be invisible because I could use it to fight and also scare my friends!”
If another Nickelodeon show’s cast was going to join your crime fighting team, what cast would you want to join your team?
Haven Flores: “The Thundermans because they know how to fight crime already.”
Terrence Little Gardenhigh: “The Thundermans cast! They have a lot of superheroes on the show and together we would be unstoppable.”
Dana Heath: “I would want the cast of All That I think it would be hilarious!”
Luca Luhan: “I would want to do a cross over event with the All That cast because we film next to them and we have gone on their show so I think it would be fun if they come on ours.”
What is a typical day of filming like? Do you have class on set? Is there a set prankster?
Haven Flores: “We have school and get snacks while we do run throughs and rehearsals. Yes, we still have school every day and sometimes on Saturday. No pranksters because we are at work and it’s not fun when someone is messing around.”
Terrence Little Gardenhigh: “Yes, we have class every day. We go outside for recess just like in regular day school. Havan and Luca are the pranksters. They get great joy out of scaring me because I scare so easily.”
Dana Heath: “School work, work, work, food, repeat!”
Luca Luhan: “We rehearse Mondays and Tuesday. We shoot Wednesdays through Friday. We do have school and we have to do 3 hours every day. We all joke around on set but I don’t think there is one specific prankster.”
If you could write an episode for your character(s), what would you want to happen?
Haven Flores: “I would love to do A Christmas Story and have all of us be the different characters, maybe a musical!”
Terrence Little Gardenhigh: “I would make my Locs become a weapon. I would make it so that they could grow as long as I wanted them to and tie up the bad guys. I would love to swing them and then the power could knock you unconscious. I would love my Locs to glow whenever danger was around to let me know.”
Dana Heath: “I would love for Mika and Schwoz have some kind of “smart off”!”
Luca Luhan: “So far I have been really happy with the episodes so I think I’ll leave that up to the writers.”
