It’s summertime and Remy Garrison has the perfect anthem for you! The feel-good vibes of her newest single, Love, Laugh, Live are available tomorrow, but Pop Hearts TV has your exclusive sneak peek today!
If that wasn’t enough, we had a chance to chat with Remy Garrison about her songwriting, new music and empowering the next generation of girl — which we love! Check out the interview below!
First off, thank you so much for taking time to chat with us! We greatly appreciate it!
Thank you for having me! It’s great to be talking with you!
Talk about the new single, Love, Laugh, Live. What was the inspiration behind it and what do you love most about this song?
The inspiration behind Love, Laugh, Live is that those three words have meant so much to me in my life. You should love unconditionally, live life to the fullest & pursue your dreams, and laughing is the best medicine!
The thing I love most about the song is how upbeat it is! I think it really gets the message across!
It’s such a great song for the summer! Is timing something you take into consideration when you release new music?
Timing is important when releasing a song. Like you said, it definitely feels like a summer song. With what’s going on in the world right now, I feel like we all need some happiness and love. Hopefully, when people hear the song it feels like a happy warm hug!
When you write and release new music, how do you decide what you want to share with your fans?
I share with my fans what’s true to me and what’s currently going on in my life. I want my songs to be like chapters of my life, I don’t want to release something that isn’t true to me.
You mentioned your dad is a lawyer, but he’s previously co-wrote songs. How does he do and would you let him ever co-write with you on an album?
I think my dad is a good songwriter… But he writes more about trucks, beer, and girls. The bro country stuff.
Unfortunately, I don’t think we would be good co-writers, because it could be awkward telling my dad all of my emotions and feelings. He would probably wanna beat up the guy that hurt me and inspired some of the songs, haha!
Since you’re able to write multiple genres, do you have one you prefer?
I don’t prefer one genre over the other. I think writing for different genres makes you a better writer. You bring a lot to the table when you are flexible like that.
What does empowering the next generation of girls mean to you? How can we all do the same?
Empowering the next generation of girls makes me excited. I wanna be their voice when they feel unheard. Girls are hard-working, strong, brave, sassy, kind-hearted and so much more. We deserve the recognition for all the things we do!
Is there someone in the music industry that you look up to or that empowers you?
The person I look up to the most is Taylor Swift. She has given many girls the passion for creating music, inspired them to find their voice, and has made them feel like they can make it – just like she did. She is INCREDIBLE!
What’s been the best advice you’ve been given in your career? And what advice can you share with those looking to break into the industry?
The best advice I’ve been given in my career is to, be you. Your authentic self. Don’t be influenced to change. Being you, should always be enough because there is no one else like you!
What can we expect from you over the next few months or year? Anything you can share?
The thing you can expect from me over the next few months is continued releases. I can’t wait for fans to hear even more new music.
Some fun questions about quarantine! What have you been binging?
I have been binging Lucifer, Arrow, and Schitts Creek!
What’s the most random thing you have done while in quarantine?
The most random thing I’ve done in quarantine was shooting the Love, Laugh, Live video at home. It has a very home movie-type feel. The quarantine forced us to alter our plans for a big, splashy, beachy video.
Instead, it was shot in my hometown of Birmingham. To be honest, I really love what we ended up with!
