Last night’s episode of “Baby Daddy” came with a whirlwind of emotions! The episode began with Ben helping Emma with a school project. The assignment was to make a family tree to display at preschool family night.
We also see Tucker struggling with his spontaneity while giving the weather on television. Riley suggests signing up for an improv class with her. She’s taking it to help her with her courtroom rapport and thinks it will help Tucker with his job too. Tucker agrees to take the class with Riley.
Ben drops the bomb that he invited their Nana Lyle to family night and Bonnie is not happy about it. Bonnie and her mother (guest star Loni Anderson) don’t have the best relationship. When Nana Lyle shows up, the boys love her and wonder why she and Bonnie don’t get along. Ben tells Bonnie to suck it up so that Emma can enjoy family night with her whole family but Bonnie and Nane Lyle just can’t stop bickering. Bonnie accidentally loses Nana Lyle at the Mall and Ben and Danny blame her for doing it on purpose because she’s jealous. At the improv class, Tucker has his doubts but decides to give it a try anyway. He and Riley start to actually enjoy the class but still don’t seem to understand the concept of improvising.
At family night, Bonnie and Nana Lyle fight over Emma and cause a scene. Nana Lyle decides to leave but the boys convince her to stay in town and go to Riley and Tucker’s improv show with them. Ben thinks if Nana Lyle and Bonnie are at the same place together, he can get them to have an honest and open conversation. The two aren’t happy to see each other at the show but they attempt to sit through it anyway. During Riley and Tucker’s performance, Bonnie and Nana Lyle start arguing. Nana Lyle says it’s nice to spend time with the family since she was never allowed to before. Bonnie calls her out for lying and the two start to raise their voices at each other. Bonnie finally has it with Nana Lyle’s act and comes clean about all the awful things her mother has done. Nana Lyle never supported Bonnie during her pregnancy and never wanted to have a relationship with the boys or Emma. This scene was an emotional one because Bonnie really opened up about all the awful things her mother has done to her. The boys are shocked because they had no idea. Bonnie tried to hide it from them for years so she could protect them. The episode ends with a warm fuzzy moment between Bonnie and the boys. Ben tells Bonnie that they don’t need Nana Lyle to be a family.
