When did you realize you wanted to have a career in music? Is there a specific moment that stands out to you?
Ever since I was really little, I’ve always been lip syncing to artists on the radio and I have always had the passion for it. Anytime I hear a pop song, like Kelly Clarkson or Katy Perry, I would just sing along. I knew that’s what I wanted to do when I grew up. I remember, when I was really little, my mom was taking me on a walk and I turned around out of nowhere and said “I’m going to be a famous singer when I grow up!”
You are a member of Acapop! Kids, how did you get involved with that and what has it been like to be apart of that group?
My mom saw an ad for it online and I was like “why not?” I saw Scott Hoying, one of the Pentatonix members, was a leader of it. When I got in it was amazing! We first went to New York and I did the first song breathing, it was so fun! I got to sing with other talented kids and it was just really fun to meet everyone.
You have your new single Ain’t No Second Chance, what was your inspiration behind this new song?
It was about past relationships and friendships that are sometimes just not meant to work out.
What does the process of creating new music typically look like for you?
First, I usually just start with chords or an idea and then I’ll write lyrics. After that, I come up with a melody and put them all together!
What has been one of the biggest or one of you favorite moments in your career so far?
The first time I performed my original song in the Patchogue Theater! That was the first time I performed in front of a large audience, which was really amazing!
When you were first becoming an artist and finding your style were there other artists that you looked up to for inspiration?
When I first started singing I really looked up to Alicia Keys, I always sang her song Girl on Fire. She was kind of my main inspiration, that’s how I wanted to play the piano and write my own music.
Aside from being a member of Acapop! Kids and creating your own music, you also advocate for mental health and perform for local charity organizations. How did you get into that?
I used to struggle with really bad anxiety when I went to school. Sometimes I would have panic attacks or anxiety attacks before I would go. I just thought a lot of people suffer from this and why not support it!
What would be your dream venue to perform at?
I would love to perform at Madison Square Garden!
If you could choose any artist to collaborate with who would it be?
I would definitely work with Ariana Grande, I just love everything about her!
