Season 23’s Dancing with the Stars cast is finally revealed! Two members of the United States Olympics team made the list. Gold medal-winning gymnast, Laurie Hernandez and 11-time Olympic medalist swimmer, Ryan Lochte will be hitting this dance floor!
Lochte, 32, who’s partnering with Cheryl Burke, tells ABC News, “I think it’s time for me to hang up the Speedo and put on my dancing shoes and get in that ballroom.” This all coming on the heels of the swimmers legal woes still pending in Rio.
He continues, “I’m going to treat this kind of like going into the Olympics.” Also adding, “You train for so long, and you have that one shot to put it all out there, and I think that’s what I’m going to do.”
16-year-old Laurie Hernandez is partnering with Val Chmerkovskiy. Hernandez’s Olympic floor routine is spectacular. Her nickname is the “human emoji” because her outgoing facial expressions make you want to smile! This will certainly help her in the competition.
Six-time winner, Derek Hough will also return to DWTS this season after taking some time off. He previous won with partners, Brooke Burke, Nicole Scherzinger, Jennifer Grey, Kellie Pickler, Amber Riley, and Bindi Irwin.
Dancing with the Stars cast also includes model Amber Rose, actor Jake T. Austin, singer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Brady Bunch” star Maureen McCormick, actress Marilu Henner, “Little Women LA” star Terra Jolé, and 90’s singer turned home renovator Vanilla Ice to name a few.
