I had the pleasure to chat with singer & songwriter, Jayden Lange, and discuss his up and coming music career. We talked about everything from getting started in music to releasing new songs and everything in between. Read below to get to know Jayden Lange!
Where are you from and currently based in?
I am from Frederick, Maryland!
How did you get started?
I have always wanted to be a singer ever since I was about three years old. However, I was nervous to start my career because of my classmates – and it didn’t help when I saw all of the hate that musicians like Justin Bieber received when getting started. Eventually, I got started in online school and now I am doing what I have always wanted to do – sing and play guitar.
Who do you look up to in music and how have they shaped you as an artist?
I have always looked up to Shawn Mendes, Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber when it comes to my music. Especially Shawn Mendes and Ed Sheeran because they aren’t natural singers – they really had to build their talent like I have had to do.
How do you describe your music?
I would say it’s pop music, more urban pop. My music has a lot of soul and blues too.
What are your goals five or 10 years down the line?
At the end of the day, I just want to make music for the rest of my life. I would love to see myself playing everywhere, especially Madison Square Garden someday.
What has been a defining moment in your career that has helped you to keep making music?
Every single time I feel like I can’t do it, something always tells me I can. I met my first fans at an open mic I was at and it really made me want to work even harder.
How would you describe the growth from your first cover in 2017 to now?
It was a struggle. I got a lot of hate from people because I wasn’t too good. But I have worked really hard to build my talent and from playing the guitar, singing and writing songs and have grown a lot. I always get bursts of inspiration from everything I do.
What is the inspiration behind your new song?
The inspiration behind this new song is wild. I always wanted to write a love song so I would stay up watching romantic comedies and trying to write but I could never come up with anything. One night, I had a crazy dream and thought it was really dark, until I looked at the core message. It was about fighting this girls demons and she really needed someone – so I took that message and wrote the song around that.
Do you have any upcoming shows?
Right now, I am just playing anywhere and everywhere; open mics, small venues, coffee shops, etc.
What advice would you give to someone looking to break into the industry?
For one, just do it. You can’t get better if you don’t do it, you just have to start. If this is something you really love you don’t need natural talent, just go for it and be willing to do anything and everything you need to do.
