Exclusive Interview: Triple Charm – The Next Up-and-Coming Girl Group

I had the opportunity to interview the next up-and-coming girl group, Triple Charm. They are three sisters, Amalia, Raena and Gabriella, all from Orlando, Florida. These girls are surely the next big thing in pop music and already creating such a big name for themselves in the industry. To get to know Triple Charm better, check out the interview below!

To get things started, you’re all sisters from Orlando, Florida. How about each of you introduce yourself and share a little bit about yourselves?

Amalia: I’m Amalia and I’m the oldest. I’m 15 years old and I have been dancing since I was two years old and singing since I was six.

Raena: I’m Raena and I am 13 years old, the middle child. I’ve been performing for quite awhile and competing since I was six years old. I love animals and love hanging out with my friends.

Gabriella: I’m Gabriella and I am 10 years old. I started dancing and competing when I was two and recently started singing.

To debut your group, you released your first single, “Move On.” What was the inspiration behind this uplifting & motivating song?

Raena: So it’s really all about self-doubt and I had just created an Instagram and started comparing myself to others, so I really understood what that felt like. We wanted to create a song for girls struggling with the same thing.

Amalia: Yes, and since I have been in the performing arts for quite awhile; auditioning for Broadway, trying to get into TV and Film, I kind of know what it feels like to get through those obstacles in the industry and wanted other girls to know it’s okay.

Gabriella: I felt like I didn’t fit in at school because I have two older sisters, I dance, sing and act and I had no time really to hang out with my friends so I felt left out a lot.

The single was co-written by you all alongside pop veterans, Heather Jeannette (Selena Gomez, Kelly Clarkson, Jason Derulo) and producer Dan Whittemore (Sebastian Javier, All Time Low, Zedd). What was it like to have the this opportunity to work with these legends?

Raena: It was super amazing, it was really collaborative and we were able to come up with a lot of ideas and turn it into something so cool. It was awesome because it was our first time in a recording studio and they made it super fun and super relaxed.

Gabriella: We just had so much fun, it was a blast. Since it was our first time it was great and I just never thought we could make it to this point. It was amazing.

Amalia: It was amazing. We started with a session and just talked about all of our ideas and our inspiration and what we really wanted it to be about. From there, it really turned into this masterpiece.

What was the creative process put into the single? You also recently released the music video for “Move On.”

Amalia: We each wrote some lyrics and to make it more efficient we wrote questions about what advice we would give to our friends who are dealing with self-doubt, so that played a part in the lyrics as well.

Raena: We started with a Skype call and we talked about what we wanted the song to be about. And then after the lyrics and concepts we talked about our inspiration which is BLACKPINK, Meghan Trainor and other girl bands.

What was your goal for the music video and how did you achieve it? What was it like working with director Nayip Ramos?

Amalia: It was amazing getting to work with everyone and our goal was to make sure it was very colorful and bright and make it a lot of fun. They collaborated and worked with all of our ideas and made it all come together. Nayip was the best to work with, he is an amazing director.

What was it like working with choreographer, Rumer Noel and vocal coach, Karen Whitham? You are also all so young working in the industry, what is that like?

Amalia: So I am the oldest and I am very hopeful about everything, so that really helps. And I play the piano so I’m able to work on my individual stuff during the day and get everything set up for the group so that when the girls get home from school everything is ready. We do choreography and dance videos for our Instagram and I choreograph those and on Saturday’s we go to vocal lessons and we each have our own vocal lesson and then come together to work on technique.

Raena: It was amazing getting to work with Rumer, she was super nice and super cool and it was amazing getting to work with someone like that.

Let’s get to know you guys as a group a little bit. You are all sisters but what inspired you all to form a pop group?

Amalia: So before, I was working in professional theatre and I thought what better way since we all love performing, to start a band together. The three of us is three times more powerful and more energy and we are always hanging out together anyway so we thought this was a great idea.

Raena: I felt like there was a gap in the industry with three sisters and young sisters and that also really inspired us because we have something that not everybody else has.

Are there any girl bands, groups or artists that have really inspired you all in your music?

Gabriella: Some of our favorite bands are probably Black Pink and Little Mix because they have such inspiring music and great dance moves, we want to be just like them. I also look up to Beyonce because she is a queen and especially Meghan Trainor.

Amalia: We also love K-pop because they incorporate a lot of edgy pop and cool dance into their music.

What goals do you have for the future of your pop group? Are you working on any new music you can tell us about?

Amalia: Yes, so we are working on some new music that we are hoping to release in the beginning of next year. And as for the future, we are hoping to sign with a record label, headline our own tour and one day, win a Grammy.

Gabriella: We would also love having a TV show because that would be so cool to have our own TV show.

I always love to ask everyone what advice they would give to someone looking up to you and hoping to follow a similar path. What would you say?

Amalia: The advice I would probably give is to stay positive and not let anyone bring you down. The biggest thing would be to believe in yourself. It is hard for others to believe in you if you can’t even believe in yourself.

Gabriella: Believe and you will achieve, that is my big quote that I use a lot.

Raena: Work hard and keep pushing toward your goal and it will happen. It may not be in that exact moment but one day it will if you keep working toward it.
