The episode begins with the start of the ABCC graduation ceremony. Stef and Lena keep calling Callie but they can’t find her or Brandon. When Mike asks where they are, Stef says it has been a crazy few days. So let’s begin with the days leading up to graduation.

Flashback a few days before graduation. Mariana comes into Jesus’ room and tells him they need to clean the backyard for mama’s. He is super depressed because he is going to be a junior due to everything with school and his TBI. When she finally drags him outside, the whole family is waiting to surprise him. Lena tells him that his senior project would count for the same amount of credits as math, so if they finish the treehouse, he will be a senior.

(FREEFORM, ERIC MCCANDLESS)

While everyone is working on Jesus’ project, ICE comes to the door and informs Callie that subpoenaing Agent Allen risks letting the bad guys find out what they do. Then they end up serving her, letting her know she is in over her head.

Callie meets with the SinFuegos and tells them they can stay in the country as long as they dont commit any crimes. She tells them ICE didn’t want the bad publicity of Allen testifying.

Callie Wants Into The Law Program

Callie talks with the law professor and tells him she cannot wait because of how bad the system is. It is urgent. Callie tells him the people she wants to help do not have time on their side. He tells her that she is a force of nature. He admits though that it cant happen until next year.

Stef and Lena tell Callie how proud they are of her and how far she has made it. She also tells them that when she first got here they told her she wasn’t disposable and she said what means even more than saying that is how they have made her feel that way every day since.

Aaron comes over that night also to talk to her. He says it has been really confusing because her and Amanda are both incredible people but he thinks he needs to see where things go with Amanda. He leaves Callie in heartbreak and tears.

Grace Passes Away

(FREEFORM, MITCH HAASETH)

While building the treehouse, Mike asks Stef about Brandon about Grace and how everything is going. He asks how Brandon can make such a big decision at his age, being her proxy.

When Brandon gets to Grace’s house to visit her, she was asleep in bed. It appears she isn’t doing too well. She lost track of the days but wants to make it to graduation in a few days.

A few days later, while Brandon is visiting Grace again, playing some music for her, she asks him to promise that he will go to Coachella even if she can’t go. She apologizes they never got to go the gig and he told her they will always have the bagel shop. She also tells him that she made her mom the proxy.

She later passed away in her sleep while her parents lay around her and Brandon plays his guitar for her while fighting back tears. While Lena and Stef are in bed, Stef gets a call from Brandon…”She’s gone.” He tells her he just wants to drive home alone and clear his head.

While Brandon is driving, he purposefully doesnt take the exit to San Diego, “to hell with it.” He stops where the coachella festival would take place and pictures him and Grace singing at their gig. Callie comes and finds him and asks him if he really wants to miss graduation. She tells him that Grace would have wanted him to go. He tells Callie he hopes that she knows how much he loved her. When he asks how she could be sure, she tells him it is because she has been loved by him and it is a pretty powerful love.

Mariana received an email from the internship program and runs over to Emma who also got one. While Mariana didn’t get in, Emma did.

Later, up in Jesus’ new treehouse, Mariana and Jesus sit at the top and talk. He tells her that she is the most single minded person he knows; when she wants something it will work out for her because she will make sure of it.
