The 2016 Met Gala dominated everything hot in fashion this week! The Met Gala is known for its out of the box themes that send celeb’s most edgy looks down the red carpet. This year’s theme was Manus x Machina: Fashion in an age of Technology. There were a lot of fashion hits and misses at the annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Keep reading for a full break down of the stars that rocked the red carpet and the stars who’s fashion game fell a bit short this year.
Fashion Hits:
Lupita Nyong’o
Let’s be honest, when does this woman ever not look on point, flawless, perfect, etc. The soft green, jeweled gown looks absolutely gorgeous against Lupita’s skin tone. The hair may be a bit much for some, in my opinion, she’s simply having some fun with the theme and I am all for it!
Kardashian/Jenner Crew
Kim, Kylie, and Kendal all killed it on the red carpet! Both Kim and Kanye kept in mind the theme of technology while looking sleek and elegant. Kendal and Kylie looked flawless as always while staying true to the Gala’s theme. Kim rocked a custom Balmain gown along with custom Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Kanye could have dressed up his outfit a bit more for the big event, but overall the couple looked amazing!
Gigi Hadid and Zayne Malik
This gorgeous couple looked stunning on the red carpet! Gigi wore Tommy Hilfiger and looked absolutely flawless. Not too sure if I am a fan of Zayne’s metal arms, but hey, he was fully dedicated to the theme, and the couple looks great together!
Bella Hadid
This girl is absolute FIRE! The model stunned the red carpet in a Givenchy gown with Lorraine Schwartz black diamond studs and Ofira Jewels black diamond bands. Bella’s gown did not play up the the theme very much but when you look that good, the theme really doesn’t matter!
Beyonce
It’s Beyonce, no wonder she’s on the best dressed list! Queen Bey killed it on the red carpet in a fitted, nude, patten leather gown with puffed sleeves, flower patterns, and beaded pearls. You SLAY ALL DAY Beyonce!
Fashion Misses:
Selena Gomez
Selena’s fashion was not on point for this year’s Met Gala. The star sported a Louis Vuitton, white polka dot gown with chunky leather boots and a leather halter. The entire look simply did not work. You can do way better than this Selena!
Dakota Johnson
Johnson wore a Gucci gown covered with huge, colorful, lace and beaded stars. It is not a pretty sight. Remember, just because it’s designer does not mean it’s gorgeous!
Taylor Swift
All I can say is, “What in the world is going on here?!” This look has way too much going on. The cut of the dress is unflattering, the entire look isn’t styled well, and her hair and make up did not do the star any justice…and don’t even get me started on the shoes! Taylor always looks amazing on the red carpet, what happened? I have faith that the beloved singer will make up for it on her next red carpet appearance!
