“The Bachelorette” Season Finale Recap

What did you think of “The Bachelorette” season finale? I’m happy to report that our girl JoJo is definitely engaged! Let’s talk about how she got there, shall we? On last night’s episode, JoJo finally got to see her family and get their advice. She explains to them that she does in fact love both these men but she hasn’t told either of them that. Her mom responds with “good for you.” Which I think was a little jab at our boy Ben. Obvi her mom is still not over it.

Jordan is first up to meet JoJo’s family. They sit down for dinner and Jordan pulls out the gifts he brought for everyone. He gave every one at the table a funny hat to wear.  Jordan’s family has a tradition of embarrassing each other so he thought he’d incorporate that into his visit with JoJo’s family. I didn’t really get it but I appreciate the effort. JoJo’s mom likes Jordan but fears that he might be a “playboy.” She tells Jordan that JoJo has trust issues with men and that he needs to promise to never break her heart. Jordan promises and tells her that JoJo is his best friend. JoJo’s mom tells JoJo that she thinks she and Jordan are too much alike. She thinks Jordan is too likeable and this can cause JoJo to be insecure or jealous. JoJo’s mom has very realistic fears and I think most moms could relate to what she was saying. Jordan also sits down with JoJo’s dad and surprisingly doesn’t ask for his permission to marry his daughter. We’ll talk more about this later.

Next, Robby got to visit JoJo’s family. Robby went with the more traditional route and brought flowers for JoJo’s mom. Robby wins the family over with his story of when he first told JoJo he loved her. JoJo tells her family that Robby makes her feel adored and cherished. Her brother’s seem to really like Robby. They tell JoJo that there are no red flags and that she needs to be smart when picking a fiance because shes not “picking a New Years Eve date.” JoJo’s mom tells Robby, “I’m giving you a princess. I want her to be the queen of your heart.” Robby asks JoJo’s parents for permission to get down on one knee. Robby is very good with words so it was no surprise that he gave a beautiful speech and got the approval he was seeking. JoJo’s dad got emotional, which made me emotional. JoJo explains that her family loves Robby and that makes her love him more.

After both visits, JoJo finally had time to recap with her family. There is basically a consensus that Robby is more “husband material” and he’s the more “logical fit.” JoJo gets emotional when she finds out that Jordan didn’t ask her father for permission to propose to her. This makes her question Jordan’s intentions yet again. We were rooting for you Jordan! We were all rooting for you! The brothers notice that when it comes to Jordan, JoJo gets a little more protective. She gets defensive and says that they are both great guys.

Before the official engagement, she still gets one date with each guy. The date with Robby goes great. JoJo says it’s overwhelming how much she trusts him. She never questions his intentions and she knows his feelings for her are true. On her date with Jordan, she admits to being a little anxious. All of us could see she was also being a little passive aggressive towards him. She ends up asking Jordan about how the conversation with her dad went. He admits to not asking for her dad’s permission. He tries to explain himself but he just ends up digging himself into an even deeper hole. JoJo told him she is disappointed and upset and that it makes her doubt if he’s really ready. Jordan is upset about letting her down because he doesn’t want to lose her.

Finally, we get to engagement day! Both men had the opportunity to pick out their rings. Jordan’s was significantly cuter! Jordan decides to call JoJo’s parents and ask for their permission and he gets it! Good job, Jordan! Both of the men wrote JoJo heart felt letters, which she gets to read before making her final choice. She explains that she knows what she’s going to do and she is now clear on who she wants to spend her life with. The letter from Jordan said everything she wanted it to. Robby’s letter was beautiful as well. Shocker. Robby gets out of the limo first. He’s doomed. We all know it. He’s so confident as he approaches JoJo. He starts to give yet another beautiful speech and JoJo stops him. She tries to make him feel better by saying she wanted it to be him but obviously, he doesn’t want to hear that. “For some reason, my heart is somewhere else.” – JoJo

Finally, Jordan arrives! JoJo tells the cameras that she’s ready to be engaged and that she’s crazy in love with Jordan. Jordan gives his speech and JoJo tells him she loves him. He gets down on one knee and JoJo accepts! The two have a giant love fest and he carries her off into the sunset!  I wasn’t surprised by this ending at all. If you remember, I’ve been predicting Jordan since day one. Hopefully the happy couple stays together and makes it! I’m rooting for them!

It was so fun recapping this season of “The Bachelorette” with ya’ll! Thank you!
