Shawn Mendes, one of my favorite singer-songwriters, is about to take his career to the next level. Now, he is about to hit the big screen for his acting debut!
The 18 year old “Stitches” singer is casted to be in Ivan Reitman’s ‘Summer of Love’ musical. From Vine, to Radio Disney’s Next Big Thing, and now easily a well known name in the music industry, Shawn is really making it big!
The movie plot is being kept under wraps, but it is being described as a road-trip movie. Also, the title seems to be a reference to the summer of 1967 when many young hippies gather in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury neighborhood in opposition in the Vietnam War. It was a summer remembered for iconic musical performances by artists like The Who, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin.
Though mainly known for his musical talent, Shawn has also previously acted. He was in the 2013 animated film Underdogs and even briefly was on The 100, which was his very first acting debut.
But of course, we can never forget his music! From “Stitches,” to “Mercy,” and his “I Know What You Did Last Summer” collab with Camila Cabello, he is forever slaying. He even just recently performed his single, “Mercy” at the iHeart Radio Music Awards in the beginning of March.
