After finding success in country music, singer and songwriter, Lena Stone is redefining her career in a new space — pop music. With time to develop the storytelling and sound during quarantine, she’s now ready to share her new music with fans!
Pop Hearts TV is excited to premiere the music video for Lena’s newest single, Lightweight. The single, released on June 25, show a very vulnerable side to the singer.
Lena mentioned to us that not only the song, but her upcoming project were all about vulnerability. She says, “This song in particular is about how magical, wonderful and absolutely terrifying it is to fall in love with someone.” Continuing, she wanted to capture that feeling, “It’s dramatic, cinematic and such a crazy time. Sometimes you just have to cross your fingers and let whatever is going to happen, happen. Then, you hope you don’t get your heart broken.”
For the Lightweight video, she enlisted her friends at Stormlight Pictures to help, keeping in mind Covid protocols. She asked them, “What’s the weirdest thing we can do? What’s a different approach?” This was the first music video Lena has done where she isn’t singing along to the music. She did admit to us she was really drinking the wine, we don’t blame her!
Lightweight, Attention, Wrong Place and the soon-to-be released, Taking Up Space, are part of the singer’s new launch into pop music.
She spoke with us saying, “It was an interesting process doing it while in quarantine. I wrote the project with my producer, Phil Barnes, who is incredible. We wanted to take this opportunity to figure out what I would sound like. So many of my songs when I was in the country space were more written by a committee. My voice got lost. We wanted to spend some time, rediscover and learn. This is what happens when you just leave me in a room and let me say what I want to say. I wanted it to feel vulnerable. I wanted it to feel true because these songs are so true. They’re about the experiences I have had in my life over the last few years.”
Lena is also currently in the studio working on a full debut pop album, due out later this year.
